What CTR do you get with adsense?

My new project (1 month old) has 2,5K uniques per day, and generates 25 EU/daily of adsense. Ctr is around 0.9% -1.2%

I don't want to use all those ctr, squeeze, click optimized themes, as i do care about my project about it visitors, and i believe it has HUGE potential.

If i could double my CTR - bring it to ~2% (which is still very normal) - would generate 50 EU/daily.

Any good ways to increase ctr without changing template? (i already use some methods to increase time on site, page views count)

There are a lot of variables but if you are pulling in around 2.5k UV on a daily basis and yet your CTR hovers around 0.9% -1.2%, it could be:


  • Poor keyword selection
  • Your site may not be user friendly for your niche/target market, (i.e., you may have a typical blog layout when you should have a non blog looking site. Or, it could be that you have poor navigation)
  • Your site content is iffy
  • Your site design, (i.e., color scheme, layout, graphics, etc., bespeaks of amateurs)
  • Your ads are misplaced

You need to *determine which pages your UVs are entering your website and which pages they are exiting. You need to examine your bounce and answer the question, "Why are visitors exiting {this page|these pages} without clicking ANY ad?"

*Most people use Google Analytics but since I am not a Google fan, I recommend: http://clicky.com/compare/

P.S. My CTR's hover around 7% to 10%. I get a little jittery after 10%, LOL.
 
My CTR usually stay at around 9% and has gone as high as 14 for a few months. (Scared the shit out of me honestly.) Sad day when a high CTR/Success rate means you could get boned.

It has also stuck at a low 1~2%

Everything Crew said is pretty much exactly what i would check first if i was having ctr issues. Color is the biggest one, You would be surprised how much color scheme effects your visitors. Psychology ftw!

CrewChief and downornot - which themes do you use? I find that my ctr varies the most depending on the visitor source.. Meaning if they search especially for the keyword the page is targetting or not VS long tails
 
5% is the minimum i get. Keywords doesn't have to do anything with CTR. It is only important to put one (not two side by side) 336*280.

For your ECPM - to be the highest, it is mandatory for your highest CTR ad unit to be at the first place in HTML code of the page.

Follow this and you will have increase your ECPM by few times. Post here screenshot of your adsense placement, be sure to delete details that could identify your site.
 
Well, to be honest i know all those things. i have been playing with adsense for many years now, and pulled just a lot.

i used to have 10% ctr or even more, yea no problem with MNF, but all those webs were total crap, made for one purpose - to pull every dollar possible

squeezed like f**ck, short, narrow in all dimension, and in many cases biggest objects on those sites were JUST ADS. (google do not like such webs anymore)

no the game has changed for me

my website (31 days old) already get over 2.5K organic visitors. Website is long, wide ,filled with nice objects and usable plugins, so ADS don't stand out anymore.

already played with colors, fonts, shrift sizes, placement and managed to get 1.5% ctr and pulled 33 EU so far this day (still got like 5 hours)

Yet still believe i could double ctr (my best bet would be to change template to more adsense friendly, but visitors just dig it)

just looking a way how

Anyone knows what color best to attract an eye of visitor? ( i keep reading that it is naivy blue (no wonder why adsense itself goes with this default color)

dont do that anything leave as it is after some time you will see change in ctr my ctr is normally 1 to 2% and i never did anything before my crt is below 0.50% just work normal on your website
 
yes you are totally right, in time your ctr will definitely increase, as google will understand what ads converts best in your website and will try to display such ads as often as possible

See my post. It refers to nice sites, not the crappy ones.

However you need to use a heatmap for example one from clickheat.com to find the hottest areas on your site.

Regarding colors (in general) dark blue #80, gives the highest CTR rate. Font need to match font of site, but I never seen much of improvement because of that.

Regarding design, confusing sites, with too many links at the sidebar (more than ~7 per heading) lowers CTR as well.
