I've been looking into pop under ads and decided to run a rest campaign of 35k pop unders to see if I can get any conversions. The LP is a well converting page that smashes other places it runs.

What sort of conversion rates have you been seeing with pop under ads. If 1 in 15k converts I'll be very happy - is this realistic?

In my experience (limited) they convert extremely badly.

You would think with the targeting options available that it would be good, buy no.
I think many people ignore a popup / popunder or else see it as something malicious.

You might get a few that browse through the pages, but actual conversion will be rare with popunder traffic

Thats just my experience. Others might have better luck. I can't afford to test it on a big scale... but i'v often sent a few thousand

Only testing will tell for sure because a lot of factors do come into play, but generally speaking the popunder is one of the worst user-experiences you can provide to your visitors/traffic and accordingly it tends to convert very poorly overall regardless of landing page quality. I've never really had much success with these at all.

One thing that sticks out here though is that you obviously don't need that many conversions for your campaign to work or you wouldn't say you would be happy with 1/15k. The biggest thing though is that if that's your true low-end acceptable parameter then your test sample size is very low. If you were thinking the goal would be 1/15k - you'd better throw a lot more sphaghetti at the wall or your data could be massively flawed. Nonetheless, why not give the test a go?

Let us know how it turned out.

Only testing is best option with popunder and any kind advertising form.
Popunder the cheap than others, so spending for 10k does not sounds bad, You can test for 10k to 20k clicks.

    Hi!

It all really depends on the amount of cash you've spent on those 35k pop unders.

Even so, I can tell you that you're definitely not being too hopeful when you refer to "1 in 15k conversions".

That's a pretty easy number to get, to be honest.

It's hard to say the ratio since the market is so changeable. One thing is certain, though: 1 in 15k? You may be suffering from being too pessimistic!

I think you'll get a better Conversion Rate than that!

    Cheers!

Conversion rates are most dependent on the landing page, how well you are selling your product. You say you have a good converting page. I'll take you at your word. You don't mention however any numbers of how it has done before.

The next thing is bring quality traffic. If you place your popups all over the place and not targeting the best places to put your ads, you won't get as good results if you do better targeting. Search is much better since that's the best targeting you can do: reach people as they are looking for you, more ready and apt to buy because they are qualifying themselves. But I've got nearly as good and at times better results by doing a very well targeted content campaign.

So your question cannot be answered, not without more data. I can tell you that often, a 0.1% click rate or less can be expected, although I've achieved 5% with good targeting. That would be 15 clicks out of 15k (I believe you are talking impressions/views here). Can you convert one out of every 15 visitors?

Note it doesn't matter how cheap the clicks are. If you spend $100 to get that traffic and you have no sales, whether it comes to 10 cents or 20 cents per click is beside the point.
