Hi guys I am trying to make my forum as good as this one I get a bit of traffic from Google but today I have stumbled upon this forum and a post on bounce rate. It was explaining that high bounce rate is bad for SEO the post was describing general sites but my site is a forum so I am wondering what bounce rate is normal for a forum site?

Also please any suggestions that will help me to get more traffic and higher ranking?
Thanks and Happy New Year by the way!

No bounce rate is good for a forum or any website for that matter. Your goal is a 0 bounce rate even though that
number is just about impossible you should strive you achieve the closest number to it.

If Your Forum is new then I guess the bounce rate would be high as you lack sufficient amount of topics/post replies but if you just started the forum You should monitor the Average visit time and bounce rate.. it must be lower day by day because lower bounce rate represents that how much visitor likes your website/forum OR how much time he/she spent on your website/forum.

And as RabbitKing said Forum's bounce rate should be 0, he is absolutely right! So Your all time goal would be less than 10% to 15% bounce rate.

In my experience bounce rates are very important , no bounce rate is good for a forum. bounce rate defined the time spent by a user at a particular page..

Bounce rate is very important you can increase it by making attractive the landing page. I recommend you to make your home page like portal and give a link to forum. In the portal if you publish contemporary videos, news, and the visitors will stay longer.

Get original content written, and long guides. You want the people to stay on the site for as long as possible. You do not want to have a PDF download link to a tutorial, because people will just download it, then leave your forum. Have videos, pictures to look at, and lots of content to read. Naturally, the more people you have on your forum, the lower the bounce rate.
