So in 2016 at the age of 24, I had an extremely heavy night out. Woke up next morning, worst hangover imaginable. Got up out of bed and as I reached for the door I blacked out, woke up in a heap on the floor. When I came around my heart felt like it was going to explode, it was violently quivering and I was sweating and vomiting. I was sure I was going to die. One ambulance ride and an EKG later I was told I was in severe Atrial Fibrillation (an arrhythmia) and that they were going to cardiovert (shock) my heart back into a normal rhythm. They sedated me but that didn't help. I still hear the sound of that machine charging. It was like being kicked by a horse and then there is a split second where your heart stops before it restarts that is completely surreal, like having a bucket of ice water thrown over you. I will never forget that feeling in my life.
Anyway, from that, I developed a real nasty intolerance to alcohol. Can't drink it at all anymore, it just sends my heart crazy (palpitations, fatigue, anxiety). So I haven't touched it in 18 months. Stopped the coffee around a year ago as well.
Sparkling Water is about as exciting as it gets for me these days, which is what I'm sipping on right now.
