Hey everyone, I have recently started learning SEO and trying to understand how website rank on Google.

While reading here and there, I keep coming across the term "backlinks", But I am still a bit confused about what they actually are?

some people say the very important while others mention quality matters more than the quantity.

I have not tried building any yet, so I am just trying to get a clear idea at first.

Can someone explain in simple terms what backlinks are and how they actually works?

Assuming you wrote an article about weight loss it would be ideal if noneisnone.com is an authority site on the subject if it is it would be worth more than 30 backlinks coming from random websites also do follow backlinks are more important than no follow
