AVG + Malwarebytes and SUPERAntispyware if shit gets serious. Had success removing stuff using SUPERAntispyware which I couldn't do with AVG or Malwarebytes.
How come no one on this thread added Sunbelt Vipre as his favorite option but this antivirus is leading the separate online pool?
This gives my brain virus alert.
Avast all the way. Yeah I once used linux on my desktop, but switched back to windows when windows 7 came out. Working on windows is much better than working on ubuntu or anything else.
I spent three years in the cyber security industry and Advast free is fine, I use it on my Android phone as well. I use Malwarebytes for cleanup. Any AV software can let you down by the way so always practice safe computing!
Want bullet proof? Go Ubuntu running Wine for Windows and go ClamAV.
By the way running Windows without AV is like having unprotected sex! Many of you have heard that an unprotected Windows machine will be attacked within minutes of connection to the Internet but that's not hyperbole. I know this to be true because we used such machines as honeypots to collect samples in the wild virus samples.
The best of the best...ESET NOD 32 with MalwareBytes Pro NOT active. (I set it to not active so that it won't actively be running, but if I want to scan - it'll be good to go)
