Website punished, now what?

If someone lost, someone Gains.

One of my sites hit very bad, from $800 to $50 also traffic lost about 80% and I don't receive any manual penalty notification.

It is not always Google has to inform us. I have waited for more than 6 months, no improvement then I sold that. And I guess the reason was Bad comment links to the money articles, it all created by a friend.

For penalized sites, in the notification, is a service number given to resolve the penalty?

I find it kinda odd that disavowing and deleting links doesnt help. :/

If it really is a penalty, just change your content on website and try again ..

I never received a message and it was almost certainly an algorithmic change. A ton of people here on BHW and elsewhere seemed to have lost a lot of rankings.

I'm going to leave this site alone for now. I'm already working on a new site in the same niche that hopefully will be finished by late February or March.

None of my major competitors got hit despite being just as blackhat. They also have worse content and recommend dangerous and poorly researched products.

The good thing is I know the niche is rankable(albeit it more difficult today than two years ago) and profitable so I just need to put in the time.

I'll update if there is any significant recovery.
