I'm looking for someone to help me build my own website featuring my music and links to buy my music. Whether thats on iTunes or simply through paypal I don't know yet.

I've been reading a lot on these forums and still am not sure what plan of action to take. So I'd like to ask for an estimate from anyone out there who is willing to design a website for me.


How much would someone charge to make a website from scratch? I would pick a doman and buy it of course but I'd like an idea of how much I will be saving in order to hire someone to do this for me?

So wordpress. I've heard a lot about it, and I see it has scripting included. But does that mean you actually design the website for me? If I gave you a theme, what links I want, the look, flash button descriptions, etc...I would have a complete website ready to release?

Or is this just the script?

Edit: I have just seen your examples of your work. EXCELLENT quality. How much would you charge for the whole thing from scratch for me?

WordPress is just a CMS. That means, it helps editing content that is displayed in frontend (to visitors).
Other than that, WordPress websites are just as any other. So yeah, you can give me theme, or it can be custom designed by my designer.

About the price, I suggest you to write on paper all the features you would liek to see on your website and send me the list on private, and then I can give you price.
I am glad you like my work.
 
I think the best choice is to look at themeforest. Very cheap and the content you can easily edit urself.
 
If I chose to do this myself, Im assuming I would need to write all of the script framework first before using Word Press for the appearance of the site? Or does Word Press help you build from the start?

( Sorry Im very inexperienced, I'm putting aside most of this evening to read up on what is required to build a website, so I wont sound this idiotic for long! On the bright side I have a winning smile and a smashing attitude towards life! )

I ll do it with 300$ including domain and hosting for the first year.
You will recieve fully working site(custom design), I will add content to site(you provide)
will install all seo and social plugins and help you to setup all properly,

Wow, nice offer. So as an estimate after the first year how much do you think it would cost me for the hosting / domain fees?

The process (that I follow) would be this:

Customer sends details -> I explain everything to designer -> Designer designs in Photoshop -> Design is checked by customer -> I code the design in hmtl/css/js -> I integrate the design in WordPress -> Quality/Satisfaction check by customer -> Job complete.

I would not suggest you to do it alone. Not because I am providing service, but because you clearly are not skilled in this thing, and you can try doing it alone, or even use some free tools, but you will not get quality out of it, and in the end it turns out to be more expensive than ordering service from someone else.

You said you are serious about this, than you need to create serious website too.

Wordpress is only for managing the content of your website i.e. blog post, videos, links etc. but you need a host and a domain name first. The techie part would be setting up wordpress, but that depends on your web host.

Maybe for a start, you can have a hosted blog at wordpress.cxm or blogger and see what you could do from there (just a suggestion)

BTW, have you registered any domain name yet?

On wordpress themes you just add content and thats it. But if you want custom work then hire a designer.
