Has anyone tried optimizing a site hosted at superpages.com?

I haven't looked at it much but they have their own cms so the pages have a weird extension but I suppose they must have something to convert to search engine friendly urls?

I was asked to work on a site there and it was a bit of pain to figure out their cms to edit the pages & tags & creating new pages.

I am going to tell them I need to move the site to my server so its easier for me and I can use dreamweaver but wanted to give them some other reasons NOT to host there if anyone has a few that sound reasonable. I know they probably like the fact that they can login and edit the text but I was hoping to give them a good reason that seo will be improved if hosted elsewhere?

They only have a one page site as it is so no big deal moving it.

Thanks!

get your own host. setup a nice autoblog network. That is the best.

I already have my own hosting and will probably move this site to my server. This was just a web design client that wanted some seo done on his site. But I don't want to do it where it is hosted because the superpages cms is not user friendly and I don't want to take the time to figure it out for 1 client.

I'm taking it this is a SMB we're talking about. Don't know much about it but I think one explanation could be given is that if they're interested in having the site maintained over the long-term, they don't want to be locked into some proprietary system, especially one that uses an odd CMS or extensions. What web master would want to maintain or develop that- it would require them to learn a whole new system. In the long-run they'll be paying more and probably getting less.
