Website Aesthetics or Website Performance?

Hi,

Just want to know your thoughts on what do you think is better to be improved when you are into Internet Marketing selling products online. Website's appearance or it's performance?

Please share your thoughts as a "customer".

Performance every time for me. Great designs are nice, but at the end of the day customers just want to know the answer to something or are looking for a product and don't want to spend ages getting it.
 
Just put yourself in the customers position. When you are searching for something you are mainly interested in the content.

It really doesn't matter to you what the site looks like if the content is right.
 
Both if possible. If I see a design that's ugly I tend to leave that page.

I think both, otherwise you're losing customers because every person is different, some don't mind the looks of the site and all they care about is the actual product but others will only buy if the site looks clean and "legit".
 
There is no need to have them go up against each other. Create a minimalistic efficient site. Performance should always be more important than aesthetics.
 
I'll always prefer performance but you can always have both- A fast website doesn't have to be lame.
 
IMO, performance of the site only matters the most here. If your site is very good with it's performance then you should have to make it looks attractive as well.. so both if possible :)
 
Website aesthetics should never hurt website performance. There's just no reason that should happen.
 
Personally being a developer I aim for both, but sometimes its tough when you have complex applications. When it gets to that point, you should really get a second dev on board to make the work a little lighter
 
BOTH. Performance first then Aesthetics. Reason for this is because people want a website to load fast and all the things they need are in there. Aesthetics is important as well because people tend not to trust websites that looked like crappy ones. They think its a scam site or something.
