While checking my google webmaster tools i found some errors in the html sections.they are Duplicate meta descripition ---26 and Short meta descripiton --3.Wont they affect indexing ?Please tell how to fix these errors

No issue at all...
You can try to use Plugin seo by yoast

yoast plugin will solve this issue.
