Web Business earning $30k annually. Should I sell?

i wouldn't consider anything less than 3x the annual income (90k). I would only sell if you need this money to reinvest into another project which will make you more ongoing reliable money.

If that business makes you 30K/year, why don't you go to a bank and use it as collateral for a loan?

For sure not one bank would refuse you with these numbers since 2.5k/month is enough to cover a pretty large sum.

Also, you'll still have that 30k/year once you pay back the loan.

First off, if this is your primary method of making money then do not sell. Especially at that low ball of a price with the type of money you say you are making.

Now since it only requires 1-2 hours a week, how come you can't keep this business and just focus more on your other methods?

I see no reasons why you should be selling unless you feel this method will go bust next month, then I say cash out now.

Wait you are making 120k/year and you cannot afford to spend 15k on a new project? you kidding us or something?

Haven't read the post above? Im not kidding but am running out of cash as of now coz I've invested almost all of my money in a land purchase. Also I was not making $120k/year for last 10 years. Its was just a couple of months back when I started making 10k/month. And yes, Im not kidding as well. I value my time and as well as other's

To all the people saying "don't sell at 15k!" I have to disagree. You see, 2-3 years revenue is the price of a company that is established, been here for years and is "physical".

Most internet businesses, go only from 6 month to 1 year revunue. You know why? Because generally this businesses are more sketchy, they have a higher chance of going bust etc. Not to mention the OP's website is greyhat.

Now the OP

If you are SURE, abolsutely sure that your new project will bring a nice income. Then sell the site, I believe that 15-20k for a greyhat website is a decent offer.

I mean some of the people are expecting you to put off building your business for another 6 months... thats a BIG waste of time, completely inefficient, considering you will be making a minimum of 10-12k a month.

Just my 2 cents.

This is the way I think too. Getting 6 months revenue for a "greyhat method" site is not bad in my opinion. Also considering that the offer may have be increased If I reply with counter offer (I still have 3 days left to counter offer) and If I decided NOT to sell the site, Im sure it will delay my current big project which will be resulting in DELAY for about 4-5 months in creating my 10-12k/month new project.

Also people who are saying to take loan, CAN SOMEONE POINT ME TO RIGHT DIRECTION WHERE TO TAKE LOAN FROM? Which bank OR financial institution will give loan to a website which is using greyhat method to produce leads? Come on friends, dont be a dreamer. The actual world is ENTIRE different. I have tried this way in the past with NO SUCCESS at all. Think it this way : If a bank cannot give 40 lac INR for a property worth 100 lac, then can you expect a loan for a (greyhat) website which has not physical existence Or assets?

Almost prepared to sell this UNLESS some GREAT advice doesn't come my way in a day or two

If you have a SYSTEM that is generating $30K a year, you MIGHT consider selling it for X 3 earnings (around $90K). This is what "normal" businesses sell for.

However remember that in this business it is NOT the money you get, it is the CASH FLOW that you generate.

A better suggestion would be to DUPLICATE this business model 100 more times to see if they also take off and generate cash.

Also, I would re-evaluate your decision to get an office and take on employees. In this depression we are in, that could cause more problems that what it is worth.

Remember Eban Pagan. He does $$$ 20 million or more a year from his house using outsourced services. That is the kind of leverage you really want. His courses are listed at Biztorrents.

Don't sell the goose that lays the golden egg.

Trust me its of no use to digg such other threads.

Depends on your risk preference. If you're a risky investor, sell the site and pump the money into the other business. If you're risk adverse and more cautious, keep the site in case the other idea doesn't work out.
