Hey.

New hear and a bit wet behind the ears so go easy.

Can anyone tell me if Web 2.0 properties accumulate PageRank faster than a normal hosted domain and how this is so?

I'm particularly wondering whether an expiring domain that has been pointed at a WordPress hosted site or similar has accumulated such a statistic from its host and would it struggle to keep it if I bought and redeveloped it?

Thanks all!

Depends on how much you invest into them. Many of Web 2.0 can get a high pagerank due to internal backlinks - for example if you're featured on the top section. It doesnt mean however that they will outrank a self hosted domain - content relevancy is much more important than pagerank.

No. PageRank is determined by the inbound links. So if you bought an expired domain it would theoritically still keep its PageRank on further updates as its still have the inbound links. Many inbound links will be lost at some point though of natural causes.
