What Is It
Wealthy Affiliate, What is it? For those who don't know WA is a online community sort of like this one with like minded individuals looking to make a full-time income online. The difference? This is free!
At WA you have to pay a monthly subscription of 40-50 USD (I apologize for not having the exact number). The main purpose of the site is to train you to succeed in blog marketing. They have training for everything though, CPA,PPC,List building ect.
You do get to start out for free though, So that's a +1 for them. They have what they call a Online Entrepreneur Certification program which consists of 5 modules. You get access to the first module to free and the ability to build 2 free websites. They also give you premium member perks for you're first week as a member at WA. So another +1 for them.
I joined them in 2007 and quit mid 2008. They are a good place for beginners. So i tip my hat off to them for teaching me the essentials. WA taught me the meaning of '' Value''. A lot of people still don't understand this. I find a lot of people who are new to IM still heavily focus on ranking for google. I mean, That approach is fine. But what if you do Rank Number 1 for you're search term but offer little to no value? You're bounce rate will be huge!
One problem I had with them was the fact that I had to get through all 5 training modules just to find out that earning online was a huge commitment! I wish they would have told me that it would take me a full year to replace my 9-5. Looking back now I don't regret it obviously. They essentially got me to where I am today. I mention this because most people think IM can happen over night, Or in a few months. I did too at the time. I didn't fully understand that this was a long term goal, I wasn't looking at my website like it was a business, It was more of a project to me at the time.
I Did My Research
I looked into them again recently to write this review so I am up to date with their recent changes. Now As a premium member they will Host you're Domain for no extra cost on top of you're monthly membership. So if you do join them, They will host all of you're websites for you. So again, Good for noobies who don't want to pay extra on top of their monthly payment to them.
Cool Stuff They Have
They have a really cool section called (Give a comment, Recieve a comment.) I like that idea. It's basically a page the whole community goes to and posts their new content. After they post it they ask for comments and return the favor. This is a cool idea because google see's a lot of user engagement on you're site which of course will boost ranking.
An Active Community
As soon as you sign up you're greeted by the community. They are a lot like the people here, Just willing to help you learn if you seek the help. They have a lot of successful members there sticking around answering questions and taking advantage of the free hosting, Webinars and comment section.
I also enjoy their Archive for questions. It has every question ever asked since the site was created. I found a old one of mine from 2007! God i feel old. Anyways, That's pretty helpful because just about anything IM related has already been asked. So you rarely have to ask a new question. When you do though it gets answered within a few minutes just because of the big user base.
Webinars
They have Webinars all the way back from when the website opened. You can either watch them live or when you get the time to watch the version that was stored in the archive.
Keyword Tool
I thought this was neat, They have their own Keyword tool which produces the same results as Googles keyword tool and Jaxxy. I only compared it to those two.
Their Training
All the training is video based, So its nice for those who need to listen to learn. Below each video is a text version of what they just said, with extra info also just to go through after.
They also have 13 classrooms all about different topics on internet marketing. This is also new ( well, new to me since I haven't checked them out in almost 8 years ). Each class room has training from the creator of the website, it has training from users and threads of questions being asked about that particular topic as well.
Create unlimited websites with hosting
I mentioned this earlier but want to touch base with it again. Its a pretty cool idea, But the free websites are site.rubix websites. Those rank poorly, Well not as good as a real domain but still decent to get started on. Once you commit you can transfer the site.rubix website to a real domain which you can host on their site. So that's pretty cool too i guess.
Not A Get Rich Quick Scheme
From what i learned 8 years ago and from what i can tell now they still heavily focus on letting you know that this will not happen over night, Which is of course the case. For any one who has found success online chances are it took you a year +. But obviously there are some here in this forum who achieved success in a few months. Those guys are monsters though, So lets use the average Joe as an example on how long it should take
Don't feel discouraged by that statement if you are new and reading this. I made my first commission around the 3 months point. It was only $20.00. But guess what? If a website can make $1.00 it has the potential to make $1000, alright? Around 6 months I was seeing regular sales in my chosen niche', and by 12 months i quit my 9-5 for good. Here i am now 8 years later still working from home! Also keep in mind this was all off organic traffic. I didn't do PPC or build a single back link. That didn't happen till a year after. If you already know this stuff you have an edge on me from when I started. So there are ways to speed up the process.
To Clarify
Although WA is a great place for beginners, In my opinion it is not needed. You can find hosting for 10 bucks a month or 50 bucks for 2 years. As for training? You can find it here at the BHW for free and all over the internet. The only difference is you need to dig for it or ask.
If you're looking to have access to everything in front of you while you're starting out then yeah, WA would be great for you. I was the type who got side tracked and discouraged easy. So having all the tools and help at my finger tips made life easy and did ultimately get me to where I am today. By now I'm sure you noticed my grammar sucks too. But guess what? You don't need a PHD in English to make it online! That's the beauty in it
To Wrap Things Up
Wealthy Affiliate I do really believe is the best educational place for noobies to start. Those who wish to market any product online, Can find the training and help they need to succeed. WA is a legitimate website with legitimate owners that are on a mission to help their fellow members succeed as online entrepreneurs.
Everything from the video training, webinars, comment giving and receiving, keyword tool, web hosting, user training and archive of questions will be more than enough to get you on you're feet. Between the built in training and user training it would take you well over a year to put everything into action. Oh, Also I think its only 20 bucks for you're first month. So that's worth looking into also. If you have a lot of free time maybe pay the 20 bucks and blast through all 5 modules.
My suggestion to people failing in IM right now, Who have 0 SEO skills and require guidance is to try out their Free MemberShip. I double checked and at no point do you need to enter you're credit card info. You get the 2 free websites, The first module and 7 days of Premium perks. My advice is to use those Premium perks and ravage the site! Ask questions, Go through training and take in as much info as possible.
I'll be doing constant reviews on E-Books here and popular training in the weeks and months to come. I want to finally give back. I'm at a point where I finally have enough knowledge to start giving back. Keep in mind before you try tearing my head off that you do not need to sign up with them. I've said this at least 4 times now. They are great for noobies but all the info can be learned on you're own time if you chose to go that path. Trust me though, It will take much longer. Please feel free to PM me! I made my first Full Time income in 2008. It took me a year to achieve this. I have been making more and more money every year off different methods of course so i can definitely try to help people out if they need it.
