[WARNING] Google+ can and will f*ck you up on slightest mistake

Have fun trying to find an alternative for google, n be upset/disgusted all you want, you broke their terms, and after more then 2 years experience workign with them you should have known adding a birth date of 2000+ would cause issues.

I understand it sucks, trust me I've been in the game for a long time. Your going to get accounts suspended time to time. And I agree its bogus that they could not contact you with a warning.. but google runs shit man. When you have the leverage they have, you can do whatever you want.

Actually I'm working with Google much more than 2 years. 2 years is the age of one of my online brands. And in this case I didn't make 1 mistake, I made 2:

1. I violated their TOS
2. I put all my eggs in a single basket

As much as I'm tempted to fix the first mistake, in my opinion it will only add to the 2 mistakes I already made. While the brand is absolutely legit, quite popular, has an official office in UK and doesn't hide its owners - I feel that if I send the passport/pay using CC it will create yet another precedent for a behavior I consider to be unethical.

Among the the two mistakes above, the second is very easy to fix. So yep its alternatives, and you're wrong in your sarcasm. There are very good alternatives on the market.

To those curious how it ended:

I faxed them my passport, and asked to unblock my account. Since I clearly do not violate their TOS. In spite the fact that I was born at 2009 i'm no longer a child:

After that :

1. I opened a new brands' mail on mail.com, and actually liked it more than gmail.

2. Replaced Analytics with Woopra - really nice replacement.

3. Moved the brand's blog to wordpress.

4. Decided that I no longer need google webmaster, as some of my sites are doing very well without it.

5. Created about 300 gmail accounts for black hat activity on Google+.

All in all I think I gained more than I lost.

Good For you! I think we overestimate googles importance or rely on it too much . Google should just be a peice of the puzzle. I guess though if all you do is adsense but even then you can still find a way to profit buying traffic. You don't need Google for traffic or to sell or do anything on the internet. Unless all you care about is free traffic from google. But there are tons of alternatives. And finally if Google is THAT important to your setup then you need to expect to get nailed if doing BH if not stay completely on up and up and actually you could still get nailed either way just read the gforums. Peace.

This could have been prevented.

Crazy: You set you FAKE Birthday as somewhere between 2000-2011? Are you kidding me? That would make you somewhere between the ages of 1 and 10! You probably broke the TOS for this website!

Good Sense: When you Fake something, such as lying about your age, online or off line, make your age 21 or older! Stay under the radar, dude.

I'm just saying......

I was not trying to be sarcastic, you will not find another alternative that can provide the volume that google can. Nor find one that can provide you with all the tools.
Yea you can find individual services like you stated above "having all your eggs in one basket" and do just fine. I was not meaning you cant do continue w/o google by any means.

Just saying google is king when it comes to webmaster tools/services.

It's like PayPal, as in PayPal runs the online payment industry. You can find a bunch of alternatives to PP as well.. but they still run the industry.

Regardless the situation sucks, Like i stated the first time.. "thanks for the warning"

Short story short,

When you create a gmail account you are never asked for your birthday. Once you join Google+ it asks for your age - be very careful here! If you set your birthday too close to 2011 your account will be disabled in a swift press of a join button.

That just happened to one of my established accounts - its 2 years olds. I set the birthday year to 200-something and now I get this message when try to log in:

Now the account unlock process looks as follows:

Be careful, and if you have a better way to unlock the account, than the 2 listed above please PM.

Uncheers,

Did you read the Google+ policies? specially their privacy policy? You should read and better understood the policy. What you did is not correct, that is the main reason why your account hass been disabled.

Even if your gmail or google account is 6 years old but you did not follow their policies, your has account will be disable without any questions.

I have 2 google account almost 6 years old with the same name and i use one of my account to sign-up Goog+ and enter the correct details and follow their instructions.. Everything works and fine!

I dont understand what message are you trying to deliver, honestly. I have a bunch of Google+ accounts and they are also working fine. So what?

I'm telling you to be careful, its not about me anymore its about how you can avoid my mistake. And its about how asshole Google can be.

You don't seem to get it. YOU fucked up man, NOT google.
Your calling google out for sticking to their T.O.S.
Google didn't pick your birth-date you did that yourself.
Try taken some responsibility for you actions instead of calling out a very legit company. This could have been avoided 100% if you took the time to read google's terms.

You can try to flame google all you want, they did nothing wrong. All your doing is making yourself look foolish by talking trash about the biggest online company in the world. Your acting like you mean something to google and they care that you didnt take the time to read their terms. This is why they have you click that you agree to their terms.

If you dislike google that much why even waste your time creating a thread about it? Don't reply saying you wanted people to learn from your mistakes, because your not even taken responsibility for your own fuck up.

I'll go one by one. Lets start from the end.

If you dislike google that much why even waste your time creating a thread about it? Don't reply saying you wanted people to learn from your mistakes, because your not even taken responsibility for your own fuck up.

Do you see [WARNING] in the title of the thread? Thats means exactly that - warning. Apart from that there is no logical connection between learning from my mistakes and taking responsibility. If you came here to accuse me in something, better pick your arguments right, otherwise you just make a fool of yourself.

Google didn't pick your birth-date you did that yourself.

Thats exactly what I wrote, no need to repeat me.

Your calling google out for sticking to their T.O.S.

I'm calling Google for failing to remain the good old Google we are used to. Now Google is on the hunt for your personal data, and they choose a way I find disgusting.

Apart from that, are you working for Google or just another fan?

How about fucking off G+ ? Come on people, what's so important if you are on one social network or another ?

...good luck with that, for many Google IS the internet, screwing with them might make a huge dent in their income, not applicable for all, but i do believe many cant not be on a social network that rules the search on the net...

Typical fanboy response. Defending aspects that are not under attack. Like when I say iPhone sucks they say it has a touch screen.

Taking responsibility? This isn't 3rd grade with Washington and the Cherry Tree. If you like g that much why even waste your time answering in a thread about it? Don't reply saying you have nothing better to do because we already know that.

At any rate, the main issue is that they turned from a libertarian company into the next global monstrosity. Once an entity reaches that point it's only downhill from there. You may think they are very clever but the truth is all they have is a soon-to-expire patent and once that's done, they are off the number one search engine. Just like Sun, due to huge assets they are still kicking but nobody really cares about them anymore.

Yeah, if you're going to lie about the birth year, always put a year that puts you over 18, especially for US sites. Just use your birth year (if you're old enough) or the years beyond your birth year.

well, choosing the right (=fake) element from the drop-down box doesn't seem too difficult... :D

Clearly you would have to be a total fucking moron to set the birthday date of any of your email addresses as under 10 years ago. Most sites that require personal information don't allow pre-teens to sign up because of privacy laws in various countries.

So thanks for the laugh if not the info.

I'm sure this is a way to target you better ;)

If they say to publisher our audience is strictly targetted no wrong infos about people, then earn money when they sign some ads contracts....

google deletes it by itself because it is kind enough to let you subscribe again with fake details without having to start the deleting procedure manually. that's good!

In fact you have to be a total fucking moron to write such a misleading posts, because in the minimum age is 13 and not 10.

In my case I was actually trying to act honestly and put the brand's establishment date as a birthday.
