Hey, I've been chasing my tail trying to evaluate some of the candidates put forward in this absolute gem of a forum.

I'm looking to run SB, GSA SER, a rank tracker and a little script, for the time being at least. So I guess my needs are modest compared to those of many others.

Last night I had convinced myself it was between poweruphosting and hostamus, both get good feedback here.
Then I stumbled across (don't know how I managed not too before) bhsvps and couldn't help wondering if I was better off with a preloaded package - even though I already own some of the tools I want to use immediately ... will probably wishing for some more sooner rather than later.

Anyway, I'd be happy to have input from anyone willing to offer his opinions and insights. From reading about some services, you get the feeling that even the best of them can become complacent and drop their standards. So if there's some standout candidates who are rocking 2014, then please spread the word!

I've been using Hostamus for a few months now and I can't complain, I would recommend. However I have no experience with Poweruphosting (keep that in mind)

Have been using altinsoft for a few months, and have had no issues so far.

Don't use bhsvps, the speed sux so as the support, used them a wile back. there is another vps that i use, not sure if i can post the link here.

I have to recommend the company in my signature. I have tested their servers and their competition's servers and for the price, there is nowhere else nearly as good.

I've been using BermanHosting. Amazing for the price. Great support and the hardware is good also.

I would rather go with cheap dedicated server then with VPS. I used a lot of different providers and I would now always choose cheap dedicated over VPS...

To those of you with current VPS providers, what sort of speeds does your provider return if you run speedtest.net on its connection?
I think I'll be needing to purchase one soon too, especially if I can find one with a great connection to make use of.

Cheers guys - I wouldn't say I'm closer to making a decision just yet but plenty of food for thought!

Could I ask you to elaborate on that L, as to the further benefits of the dedicated server?

Sorry for the late reply I have completely missed your post.

Dedicated server is just that - dedicated. You don't share resources, even low end dedicated server is better then crowded VPS or simply any VPS IMHO. I didn't thought that until I tried and tested myself. Something like i3 or i5 with 8gb of ram would do just fine to suite your needs when it is dedicated trust me...

From what I have seen there are even some VPS providers getting same cheap dedicated servers and then sharing resources and selling as VPS to a lot of customers. :)

There's a whole forum dedicated to the discussion of this subject. It's against rules to post links to other forums though so you'll have to Google it. Hint, 'low end'.

What cheap dedicated server can you recommend for using GSA SER without proxies?

DONT buy BHSVPS, they are no more in business. You payment will go, but you wont get VPS, and i bought it 20 days back, still i didnt get VPS and neither i got my money back. i tried skype, chat everything they dont reply. dont waste your money with them.

If you paid with paypal you can send a dispute, if you used credit card contact you can have your money back until 30 days have passed contact bank
