OK, my wife's dating site, which had been growing really well, has been down all day. The host, Arvixie, seems to have problems every week (down 5 min here and there)...we're fed up and want to move. Enough is enough.

Anyway, I'd also like to take my existing sites along for the ride (though my host is ok), but we're thinking of VPS. I have read some people on BHW talking about how they can run SB, Xrumer, etc like 24/7 on a VPS, which would be a nice perk. No idea how to do this yet, but I'll figure it out eventually...it isn't a priority. Anyway, I'm wondering what the community here thinks about our situation, and what they might do if they were in our shoes. I've even heard of BH servers somewhere that include all the tools of the trade with the hosting package. An added bonus would be someone who would allow me (when I figure out how to do it) to send 10k spam emails/day.

I assume I'm going to want a Windows-based server, but with something like c-panel set up. I've heard that not all VPS's are created the same, so I'm looking for stability & ease of use, the tools and spam would just be icing on the cake. Love to hear some ideas.

Ah...ok then...I've been using it for a couple months and didn't realize that. Thanks for correcting me.

Yes cPanel is not for Windows. top answer

You could put (spam) tools on a VPS, providing the server has enough memory and bandwidth for the tools.

Host your money sites separately, on a reliable host; if it's global or US target market, then Hostgator are Ok.

There are a lot of cheap VPS servers out there. You will want to keep your BH tools and your money sites on separate servers / IP's.

I use Bluehost for some of my money sites.

Some guys here us Xserver for a cheap VPS. Search around this forum for VPS severs, there are a lot of options.

If you have Xrumer, go to the botmaster forums. There are a lot of good VPS server options there.

You can use shared hosting, but I host some of my sites on a Linux based VPS. I saw an offer on Low End Box (OpenVZ, 600 MB guaranteed RAM and 1200 GB burstable, 40 GB hard disk space and 200 GB p/m transfer - less than $10) and decided to setup my own server. Runs Ubuntu, has Apache configured and is a whole lot speedier than any shared hosting I've used.

As it's Linux based, I can't run SB on it - but you wouldn't want to. As was stated above, you run tools like that on separate IPs from your sites.
