Virpus are a joke i was with them recently because i needed a cheap vps i had nothing but problems them (down time and so on) they always claimed it was in my end which it wasn't and when i asked for a refund they refused. i'm surprised there still a company they've been around for a good 2-3 years most

I agree. It isn't about the amount to me. If people will rip you off for a small amount, they will rip you off for larger amounts if given the opportunity.

Give the guy a break eh? He didn't start this thread to get flamed. It's not the $5, it's the sheer frustration and loss of income whilst all this nonsense is going on.
The OP has posted this as a warning to others who may be thinking of using the same hosting company. Also, if you check out CruddPuppets post (19) you will see that they're no good for affiliates either...although all of those cancellations could also be down to the poor service, I guess!
As regards what you get for your money, yes $5 is far too low for a VPS. However, you don't always just "get what you pay for." I was having problems with shared hosting with HG and so swapped for a Black Friday offer with Certified Hosting that a BHW member kindly posted on another thread. I got the Geek hosting for an annual fee of $10 and the load time for my sites has improved significantly!

I use Virpus too since two weeks (ok, it's short) and no problems.
Quick reply to my ticket about SMTP, instant activation, no downtimes, ...
The black point in my opinion : download speed between 50~150 KB/s.
I use this VPS only for SMTP.
For now, I am satisfied.

for those who are still using or curious to try a bad service provider, go on and see what will come to you sooner or later long time ago i had a same experience like OP.
anyway please don't tell "you're just paying five bucks, so don't expect anything!!!"
five bucks is some money, they exactly tell at the site and another promotions that it costs five bucks without "slow speed feature, slow response support feature, crazy damn downtime feature, and we will never refund you for any reason policy"
so what's wrong? nothing is wrong right? except they tell those feature on their website! oh please don't tell me that i don't understand about that's just marketing strategy (or maybe bullshit marketing strategy), i wanna vomit everytime somebody tells me about that. please note that basic "vps performance with good customer support" is really different with "Managed Service"!!!
so now if you meet any provider with great promise or low cost service but sucks, just don't hesitate to post your review (anywhere in the right place) with (of course) the proof.

To all people who are mocking the OP for complaining about $5, I have one question for you: How about I spank your a$$ and rip $5 off you? Will you say to yourself "just choke it and let it go, it is only $5", I doubt it. $5 is like $50000. It is really painful to be laughed at.

But it's weird that people don't think some people will laugh if you pay $500 for a car advertised with $2000-type stuff then complain about it when it doesn't start in the morning. It's like you tell yourself if you get ripped off jumping into something like that it's the seller's fault only and not yours too, can't teach kids that stuff.
You don't have to mock him too much but i still stand by my first post, not worth the stress he seems to be carrying over it at the time.
Hope OP found something better by now.
