Views VS. Subscribers

Hi Joshlin,

1) More (real) Views = More Subscribers. How many views? If your viewers like your content, you should be gaining about 1 new subscriber per 185-400 video views. This is the range the top youtubers are receiving. If you're not receiving at least 1 sub per 400 video views it could be A) those viewers didn't like your content B) the views were not real people C) views came from outside of youtube (these views hardly ever sub) D) you need to ask people to subscribe and have sub annotations to click on your video.

2) Where should these views that turn into subscribers be coming from? A) YouTube Search B) Related/Suggested Videos (right hand side of screen) C) Collaborations with other YouTubers.

How to improve on these 3 things?
A) For YouTube search, use https://ads.youtube.com/keyword_tool to find which keywords are being searched the most.
B) Pay attention to what is trending by looking at most viewed videos and http://www.youtube.com/trendsdashboard
C) Put the keyword phrase you want to show up for as your first words in your title, your first words in your description and the first tags in your tab box.
D) If your video has a good audience retention rate, receives likes, comments and favorites, you have a good chance of getting decent keyword placement.

For how to show up on the right hand side of other videos, I have no fricken clue. I'm working on figuring that out right now.

If you haven't yet read the YouTube Creators playbook, it's a must read. Yes, that sounds lame but it is jam packed with 90 pages of a lot of good white hat stuff.

I hope you found some of this helpful.

Interesting. I actually have about 50-100 views per sub. And the A) and B) points were quite interesting. I never knew about that... I learned something new today ;)

1. Upload more quality stuff.
2. Buy subscribers.
3. Make youtube accounts by the hundreds and subscribe yourself.
4. Have a real or fake giveaway

Let me go into detail about how these fake giveaways go. What you basically do is put up a video where you promise to give away a prize (mobile phone, Xbox, Ferrari, house in the Caribbean etc.). You tell people all they have to do is subscribe and leave a comment and in a weeks time you will pick a winner. After a week you do pick a "winner". you put up another video stating that the winner is "wankboy69" and you urge your viewers to check out his account as he just made a video about the awesome prize he received.

Of course, the lucky winner is one of your friends/cousins that you just recorded holding your phone or sitting behind the wheel of dad's Ferrari while mumbling on how happy he is and how hard he's gonna wank tonight. People will fall for it and the next "giveaway" you hold will be a huge success and will earn you subscribers by the thousands.

I don't know if you have solved your problem yet OP, however, focus on uploading more useful/eye catching videos. Advertise your channel on forums and push your videos out there. If you do it right, you should gain subscribers like crazy. It worked for me.

Still open for some advices. When you say eye catching videos, do you mean the content or the "thumbnail"? And how do you push your channel and videos on "forums"?? If you have time please PM me, I would like to have further discussion with you :)

Sounds logical. Seems obvious that if your video is about dog grooming (example), you focus on posting to similar-interest forums right?

I'm curious what kind of success (if any) buying Facebook ads have for building YouTube subscribers/views. My take on Facebook is while everyone likes it when it's free... not so much when there are fees involved, and there's a question of whether paid FB ads have much effect anyway...
