Hey BHW,
Just wanted to drop a few thoughts based on my time working behind the scenes on content and copy — especially for projects under tight deadlines and zero luxury of fluff.
Too often I see writers (especially beginners) treat content like decoration. Here's the truth: good writing moves people — bad writing just fills space.
Here’s What I Learned Working on Tight, Real-World Campaigns:
- Headlines are 80% of the game. If you lose them there, the rest doesn’t matter.
- Write like you talk, then tighten it like an editor.
- Don’t write to “sound smart.” Write to be clear.
“If your reader has to work to understand you, you’ve already lost.”
Common Writing Mistakes That Kill Conversions:
- Writing like a blog instead of like a DM
- Over-explaining instead of showing relevance fast
- Using buzzwords instead of sharp angles
- Failing to match tone with target reader (especially in cold emails or LPs)
- Forgetting that formatting is part of copy (white space matters)
A.I.M. — Attention, Intent, Motion
Attention: What instantly pulls them in?
Intent: What do they really care about right now?
Motion: What’s the next action they naturally want to take?
If I can’t answer all 3 before I write, I pause.
What I’m Curious About:
- How do you approach writing cold emails that don’t feel cold?
- Do long-form posts still work for you — or is short-form dominating now?
- What writing tip helped you level up instantly?
Let’s make content that doesn’t just take space — it earns attention.
