I don't know if this is celebrated worldwide, so I may be asking an ignorant question.

What are you doing for your significant other for Valentine's Day?

I'm not doing the jewelry thing; my wife has a ton of it from years of birthdays, Christmases, anniversaries, and from times when I was a self-centered knucklehead and bought my way out of the doghouse with jewelry.

I'm going to do a Southern Boil, which has shrimp, crab legs, corn on the cob, andouille sausage, potatoes, onions, clams, and mussels.

I'll use Old Bay for the seasoning and make some garlic toast as well.

When I cook that, we typically take newspaper pages, lay them out on the table, and just grab what works.

What are your plans?

We are going to go out and have a nice dinner, and I got her a card and will get some flowers as well.

I think I ran out of ideas for gifts, since my wife has simple tastes and just likes simple things in life, so I think a dozen or more roses will do. Wishing your Mrs a happy Valentine's day

Good plan.
Me and the missus are both away on business so we'd done the whole Valentines song and dance a week ago. However big or small the celebration is, just remember: some Saint was beheaded way back when and we commemorate it by giving Hallmark cards and such to each other. Isn't love a strange thing?

It's definitely a Hallmark creation but in that it is enthroned into community we have to participate on some level.

It’s been 13 years (8 years of love and 5 years of marriage), that we (she and I) have been together, and we’ve never celebrated in a special way. But this year will be special with our Angel, our first baby.

I bought chocolate, candy, and other treats. Then I bought a face mask, then a moisturizer for the feet, then there was something else...
We'll eat pizza, drink Pepsi Max, and watch horror movies. She likes them. I don't really like them, but we'll go on his terms. Valentine's Day is a thing for women anyway, after all.

Then I'll probably massage her shoulders while I watch a 30-minute random YouTube video... heh heh

In my country (where I don't live anymore), we celebrate something similar in June. So I don't have this tradition. And yesterday I removed a wisdom tooth, now my plan is to just rest, I can't suck not even suck a straw, it will be a boring valentine's day
I hope you will feel better, as I had all of them removed at once [Don't recommend it], so I understand the pain. Take care of yourself.
