Hi all,

I just wanted to ask your opinion about adding "the" prefix in domain name, because I've found pretty good keyword, and domain is only available in this form "thekeyword.com".

So, what do you guys think about this? How could it affect my ranking positions for that keyword?

Adding a prefix "the" is not gonna affect your rankings in any way. There are tons of sites ranking well in SEs without EMDs.

just what cyberzilla said, also if "the" word is out of place you should consider if it really is a good domain.. Like: WhatCanIDoForYou.com -> TheWhatCanIDoForYou.com or EarnMoney.com -> TheEarnMoney.com

Pretty obvious but anyway...

I was thinking, like, for example, if you have domain name "thedietpillreviews.com" or anything like that.

Yeah i have a domain with 'the' prefix ranking number for the main keyword in Google.

I assume that keyword along with prefix is getting traffic. If not, do some research in the keyword tool and find a long tail keyword with search volume which has main keyword in it. For example....

Use the same as your domain name. So when you try to rank for the mail keyword, there are more chances to rank for the long tail also.

It could help you get a domain you want with .com .net. org or whatever. But the search engines will ignore that word. Hence people searching for "keyword" would also ses results for "thekeyword".
