As an experiment on a throwaway domain in a particular niche, you haven't tried yet, not a bad idea at all.

Otherwise, don't risk it on any of your valuable assets.
 
There's no reason why re-writing a spun article can't be high quality.
newspapers do it all the time.
Just make sure content is well re-written. I use grammarly + yoast seo chrome plugins to help with combing through my content.
Add videos, pics, and infographics if you can.

Doing exactly what people are saying not to do here :p

Spun contents still around... It should have been long gone by now. Bad idea mate.
 
Write better content than your competitor, not rewriting their content. It won't help you in any aspects. Make long content than the competitor and target more LSIs in it.
 
please don't use spun content on your money site. it will affect your site ranking.

too funny how all those pseudo blackhats post here saying it wouldnt work without even trying. i'm pretty sure that most who posted saying its a bad idea havent actually tried it, or maybe with 1 post.
i can almost guarantee you that it works if its done right. people who say it doesnt just repeat what they heard elsewhere. there are several niches with spun content on the top10 rankings, just check movies for example.
there are tons of movie/tv-ep sites that scrape and spin content from other movie sites, or even copy others 1:1 and just spin the descriptions.
 
As per my suggestion. Please don't do with tools write your own content.Google is cleaver than you.If you do spun the content google will do blip down your website in SERP.
 
As mentioned above not a good idea at all. Quality content = good conversation and good ranking.
 
No if the spun content does not add value or is far less valuable than a human written piece. This is not the era to trick the search engines, but rather to make them like you, a lot.
 
I have made entire sites using spun content. The only problem is that later down the road, you will get caught and google will slap a penalty.
 
Another issue with spun content that others are not mentioning is that it converts poorly. So even if you do rank for the keywords, you will not convert those visitors into long-term assets. Getting traffic is only half the battle, then you must make it profitable for yourself.
