I get this questions asked somtimes and thought I would share my thoughts:
"What are the advantages of using an online affiliate software (SAAS) rather than downloading an one?"
If your looking to setup an affiliate program with the least amount of headache, avoid buying software that requires you to install it on your own hardware. Remember that you should be focused on generating affiliate revenue and not troubleshooting the installation, bugs and performance issues of somebody else’s software.
Using a cloud based SAAS (Software as a service) is infinitely better than buying some code to install on your own. First of all, the cost of maintaining your own installed software jumps when you realize that you will need the help of an IT engineer to get everything working. Then, after you have it working, you’ll need to keep them on speed dial for when your software throws an error, blows a gasket or outright dies.
Sometimes people will select a downloadable affiliate software because they only want to pay once and not have a monthly recurring fee. That makes sense except that it costs money to host the software as well as eats up a substantial amount of your time setting it up and keeping it running. Plus, once your affiliate sales starts to increase, you’ll have to deal with the common problems that arise in software that is not built with the intention of doing high volumes of traffic. That means, the more sales you begin to get through your software, the more unstable the software will become until it fails altogether. Then you have to deal with the cost of affiliates getting upset and leaving your program in droves.
Affiliates want to work with a software that they recognize and trust. Many affiliates and all super affiliates avoid affiliate programs that they recognize as being run on inferior software. They get paid based upon their sales performance and they want accurate commission numbers. Totally accurate commissions have shown to only be available with SAAS affiliate software providers. The cost for selecting the wrong software should not be underestimated.
“[It] left my business in shambles to where I had to literally change the entire affiliate program and buy an entire whole other software (glad I did) because the new software is so much easier to do and offers way more anyways.” - ripoff report
------------------------------------------------
Beware: Avoid installable software at all costs! Don’t mess with cheap redirect scripts and open source code unless you’re a software developer.
The Bottom Line: You have a business or affiliate program to run, so spend your time on reliable software that doesn’t require tech skills.
I hope this helps and I would be happy to answer additional questions or hear your thoughts about this.
