Using Keyword Research When Building Authority Sites

I was wondering if there is a way to consolidate the spreadsheets automatically and to remove duplicates.

Edit: I was able to do it using Ultimate Niche Finder but anyway it would be awesome to get a way to do it for people who doesn't own this software..

Add LTP and Treepad to the mix, it will speed things a lot. Specially Treepad. Keyword Organizer is another tool that can help getting everything under control and speeding the process :)

I am new to KW and have been looking at something cookery related which is of interest to me. I found this and feel excited i could do something here, but worried i am missing something, anyway the results are;

Main, keywordX - Monthly search 125,000 Comp - Low, Suggested Bid $1.62

KeywordX - Monthly search 13,500 Comp - Low Suggested Bid $0.72

KeywordX - Monthly search 3,900 Comp - Low Suggested Bid $0.75

KeywordX - Monthly search 1,600 Comp - Low Suggested Bid $1.60

KeywordX - Monthly search 1,300 Comp - Low Suggested Bid $0.85

A good start to try my first magazine style site?

Hi Chris, others more expert than me will chip in but just remember what low competition means- I assume you've picked that up from the keyword planner?

Read MickMcG's post about 6 posts up above me.

Also check the top 10 competition for the search terms too.

Good luck.

Hey BTB how many LSI do you think should be a good target when building backlinks. I usually have my Main Keyword and about 20 LSI's. Is that too much or too little in your opinion.

Never, my sites are all in the business and finance niches and they are overwhelmingly competitive and there are zillions and zillions of them out there. There is almost always something about my site, or the others for that matter, that is a little different and causes the search engines to see them differently, so getting them to rank never seems to have been a problem.

That does not mean there is no work involved; there is usually plenty of work but if I am going to build a site I plan on working.

I can't address a sports news site in particular as I have never looked at them from the point of view of a web site with a couple minor exceptions back in 2004 or so. I was completely clueless then and only made a few dollars because I stumbled into something by accident. I imagine it is a little competitive though on a grand scale as I do read plenty of them and the choices are astronomical.

I did have a news site that had an aspect of it about sports business that did pretty well but I had to add content to it several times a day in various "news niches" and although it made money it got a little tiresome so I moved it. i could remember the writer i used then for my articles. he's a fiverr seller and he provide the real deal when it comes to article writing. i recommend him to every other BHW marketers. inbox me for the seller link. if you wish to have best and unique contents try inbox me for the user details

great update BassTrackerBoatsit really innovative and informative.

whoah btb, thanks for the share. I now understand basic and proper kw research. You're the man! Thanks for the share of useful information

thank you op, this info really brought some new light into new projects and actually learn how to do kw research the right way.
Have a simple question if you dont mind!

I know you are going to use mainly content to rank but still if you are using 2.0 what type of keywords should we use? I saw a post somewhere in blackhatworld where he used long tailed keywords for diversity. is that what you do?

thank you

I use content as a base for that kind of site but I do a lot of off site after I have the site up and running. I usually wait a month or so at the very least when I am building a new site but the things I do you can do pretty early on if you want.

I tell you what, I'll write up a fairly extensive post on the process next week one day.

In fact, if the post is not up by Tuesday, fee free to PM me to remind me... in fact, Please do PM me if it is not up by Tuesday.

Nice thread!

We also sold plenty of Authority for BHW clients.when you build the sites follow these.

High searches keyword
EMD (domain with keyword)
High CPC - at least $3 or more
long tail keywords with good searches and CPC
Unique articles
well design + mobile responsive
well adsnese pluging to place ads in correct place.

I hope this will help for beginners

You are selling little 23 page sites with ~10,000 words... those are not authority sites. They may be nice as a start for an authority site but saying they are authority sites is well past a stretch.

I simply sit down with a pen and paper and write down as many keywords I can come up with for that particular project inside of five minutes. If I cannot come up with 25 to 30, or even more keywords, in those five minutes I bail. That?s not a project for me because there?s not enough going on between my ears with that niche.

So simple and yet I wasn't doing it. I had to choose between niches for my next project and read that. I did the exercise for each niche on my list. I sat with a five minutes timer, a sheet of paper and a pen and tried to write keywords for each niche before the timer finished. I was really surprise of the results. Out of six niches, I could only write keywords during five minutes for two of them (and I could have continued). One of them is actually a keyword that I thought was useless. I ran out of keywords after only a few written down on the niche I thought I knew more about.

Simple exercise, yet the results are quite meaningful to me !

Thanks for sharing !

Thank-you for linking this from your latest "Journey" thread. Just what I was looking for :)

This is exactly what i was looking for! Thanks a lot for the guide.

To elaborate more I use keyword shitter. generate like 1k keywords, termexplorer to get a couple of thousands more. Then go to market samurai then filter them all out.. Goddamit out of 7349 keywords i only got 4 keywords that are really usable with good enough competition. And the niche is relatively easy, so to say.

I will use your method now and i know with this i will get more than 4 haha!

Thanks so much for sharing your process! This has been a real education, and much appreciated. The basics are exactly what I needed. I'm just starting out, without experience, trying to figure out how to find a Niche + Keywords, but I had no idea how to approach it beyond that. This is the first thing I've read that I understood completely. Thank you for plain English! I thought there would be software made by some creative/technical soul to do all this! I was wrong. I don't mind the hard work. In fact, you appreciate what you've accomplished a lot more when you do it yourself. I have a lot to learn, but I'm a lot closer than I was yesterday. I took notes, tried it out, and your method works great! I have Niches and Sub-Niches! Thanks again for the well-written, useful share!
