Using full stops as backlinks.

Thinking of ways not to overcrowd forums with backlink keywords or url. So thought if I linked . to a website would it still be beneficial?

Like this for example:

What is the reason that you are building backlinks?
If you are building a backlink to a secondary link and not your money site there may be some benefit to getting the link indexed and a link to a link and such but if you are targeting a certain keyword and backlinking to it with . as the anchor text this is not going to do so much in terms of helping you to rank for any specific keyword except for .

Hmmm thats whats I thought. Would it help the site gain ranks, as it's been optimised with keywords on the site. So would backlinks without the keyword be worth it? They are not money sites, just sites trying to get better ranked.

I always thought the more backlinks the better.....but without the linking keyword...hmmmm

From my experience, when you are trying to rank for a specific keyword you need to use that keyword as your anchor text in backlinks.

For the past year or so Google has not done a PR update and in the past it was thought that a high PR link would pass link juice onto your site so this would have been a reason to try and get hidden links. This does not seem to be the case anymore. This is my opinion anyways.

When I am building links to my links I do not care what anchor text they have really. I just want to make sure that they get indexed and have a few links pointing towards them.
