Upwork vs. Freelancer

The both are biznatch, you should buy established acc have history of sale to manage making money there, if you have new acc you shouldn't go waste of time

freelancer is ok with the lowest end work

upwork is better for higher quality stuff

The main reason why freelancer.com sucks can be explained from this scenario:
A freelancer applies for a job, or may be asks for more details and the client awards him the job. The freelancer is liable to pay the fees even if the client does not pay. Whereas in Up Work the freelancer pays his fees (or rather it is deducted) after the client pays.
Freelancer.com and its partner sites like freemarket.com is notorious of robbing freelancers money by freezing their accont with petty reasons beyond the freelancers control. Even the transparency and faith in escrow.com has decreased after freelancer.com acquired it.
Upwork fees is more than any other freelance site, but it is worth it considering their transparency and reliability.

Upwork it is monopolist. It is like Microsoft in IT.

Upwork is still essentially the best out there even though I loathe what it has become. I avoid scammers by using these 4 filters:

-90% satisfaction rate
-At least 100-1000 hours billed
-Active within 2 months
-English needs to be at least conversational for research jobs to native for writing jobs

These filters won't guarantee you get what you are looking for, but it helps minimizes scammers.

And this is exactly why guys like me have to cheat to land some work. And, most of the tests that are taken are fake too!

Right and the genuine profile not getting work there.

Both rife with scammers, shoddy workers.
( Check out here on BHW where people are wanting to buy profiles on there )

You do need to dig deep to find people actually worth hiring.

Lol, It's true.

I used to use Odesk quite often, but since it became Upwork it's gone downhill.

I posted looking for someone to set up PBNs for me, I had 12 domains, 12 lots of hosting.

I asked what plugins etc they'd be using, which themes, so I could see if they knew what they were doing.
Then I asked what the rate would be for each one.

Prices ranged from $6 to $90 per site.
I still had idiots trying to sell me domains to go with the job, despite me already having these.
Plus people who didn't answer the qualifying questions, then just bombarded me with messages such as ; ' when can we start dear'

I am going to be scouring for a similar job to post in the next few weeks, looking forward to the interviews again - NOT.

Lol, It's true.

Yes it is true.

I recently posted a job, specified the price and details, mentioned no upfront payments etc.
First applicant sent a proposal for over double the budget and asked for 50% upfront.

And the format would be same. Copy paste. He don't know what a buyer is requesting and keep peppering that give me one chance for the work but when the time for bidding he never read a requirement and mistakenly some read requirements he responded with confidence that he can do the job and when we ask for test job he is taking a simple an half an hour job 2 days with same emotional message that I am having fever or someone serious in my home so not able to do the work not even he is getting time for responding and he is online on freelancer continuously.

Upwork sucks these days. They ban you for no reason. Months back, I maxed out on my bids so they choose to cancel my ac. It was a start-up account anyways.

Currently I am facing the same, after new rules on bhw for HAF and not coming projects related to my criteria I thought to go with upwork, since 15 days they are not answering me why they suspended my account and it's legal not fake. I have approved it myself as I believe in honesty work and details if it is related to me.
Still waiting for there response. :(
