Upwork vs. Freelancer

Upwork is much better then Freelancer.

Both rife with scammers, shoddy workers.
( Check out here on BHW where people are wanting to buy profiles on there )

You do need to dig deep to find people actually worth hiring.

If you suck at what you do and don't mind doing it for $2 an hour, go with freelancer. If not, go with Upwork.

Read a lot and try to find a reliable partner.for your project.

Why is freelancer worse than upwork ? I mean what is the reason.

Upwork is still essentially the best out there even though I loathe what it has become. I avoid scammers by using these 4 filters:

-90% satisfaction rate
-At least 100-1000 hours billed
-Active within 2 months
-English needs to be at least conversational for research jobs to native for writing jobs

These filters won't guarantee you get what you are looking for, but it helps minimizes scammers.

Woe was the day when Elance packed in and became Upwork.

And why the hell do mobile game programmers think they can charge like $3000 just to program a mobile game and that is not even a complicated game?

Gets on my tits trying to get a good programmer, and like all the crap that dont even have degrees on there, or pretend to be game programmers apply.

Its like gardening on Upwork to weed out the crap

I found this fantastic company that programmed mobile games but they stopped doing the service. I have been asking them ever since to start up again but they not going to.

When you mean 90% satisfaction rate you mean jss?

I prefer Upwork. It has better and more intuitive interface.
But you can have problems with both of them. They are not professionals as they should be.
I had problems with both of them in the past.

What about the selection of work available, guys? If I sign up for an account, will I be disappointed to find out that people are only looking for a limited type of service such as data entry only? Or would a creative mind like myself be able to sell my music and audio services successfully? service diversity is a major selling point for me

I put together a full commercial this fall with help from Upwork. You can find anyone you want pretty much...

I used to use Odesk quite often, but since it became Upwork it's gone downhill.

I posted looking for someone to set up PBNs for me, I had 12 domains, 12 lots of hosting.

I asked what plugins etc they'd be using, which themes, so I could see if they knew what they were doing.
Then I asked what the rate would be for each one.

Prices ranged from $6 to $90 per site.
I still had idiots trying to sell me domains to go with the job, despite me already having these.
Plus people who didn't answer the qualifying questions, then just bombarded me with messages such as ; ' when can we start dear'

I am going to be scouring for a similar job to post in the next few weeks, looking forward to the interviews again - NOT.

yep job satisfaction rate

You mean job success score, look ive done 20 jobs, made around 2000€ there, every feedback 5*, 100% recomendation and just because i have some contracts open bscause lazy clients go mia my jss drops from 100% to 92%, that algorithm ita a bit broken.

To me, Upwork is far more better than freelancer.

Upwork is better, freelancer is too spammy

Freelancer is Multi national Company now & Still People throw carrots .. Haha .
Do you know Matt Barrie ? He is a billionaire ..

i was a big fan of scriptlance before they were acquired by freelancer. i like upwork because you can monitor work until you trust your team member. so after using both for over 6 years....Upwork/odesk for long term workers and freelancer for quick fixes and small projects. it takes up to 30-40 mins to get a listing up on upwork and only a min or so for freelancer.
