Actually, you only need to have made 15 posts before you can post links. Before then, any hyperlinks will automatically trigger the spam filter and prevent you from posting your content. If you incorrectly write the link (adding in spaces, etc.) so that it remains as plain text, you won't be restricted from posting.

So I've read through the entire post, but I still actually haven't found an answer to the "why can't I PM" question. Doesn't seem to be answered in the initial post.

Basically, you won't be able to start conversations with other members until you've made at least 15 posts. But you can receive PMs from other members.

Thanks. The word "conversation" tripped me up, you might consider changing that to "Initiate a PM" in future versions. Never heard a forum call it a conversation, to me a conversation is a thread.

I can still reply to PMs I am sent, right?

The forum refers to PMs as conversations, which is why it was worded that way. And you can still reply to PMs that get sent to you.
 
thank you for this post, I am still a little confused I am trying to find thread on recommended spottify plays but can't seems to find anything and can't write on any threads. am I doing something wrong?
