Update on extreme google ranking penalty

You have million articles and I guess you are not writing them yourself or hire writers, isn't it? That's the quality problem no matter AI or other methods to generate, you may got penalty one day you should expect it, but if you are New York Times, you do not need to worry about the quality.
If your an e-commerce site, then it maybe normal to have million pages.

May not be the case, but clearly it seems like with such a large amount of content, the content quality must be poor, and Google gave you a manual review. If I was Google and saw low quality posts ranking everywhere, I would probably slap it too.

so the drop started around Feb 2022 right? did you do anything at that time before the traffic dropped?

the only modification I made is that I moved the website to another server (better and stronger)
I have around 40000 well made articles, every article has around 10-20 sub articles, the sub articles are average quality , but I was getting good amount of traffic from them, more than the 40000 articles.

one more thing I found out, I have published many new pages this month, and they are actually getting ranked well ( 1-3) , so I believe not the whole website was hit, only the old articles, but again, that was all my traffic, am totally lost, I have no idea what's going on

Disavow as many toxic links you could see as possible, then start building links to your inner pages to dilute your link profile for the next 6 month, and submit a reconsideration request again.
In my experience, it seems algo penalty and recovery from penalty is now automated, and to recover from the penalty may take not less than 6 month.

If you properly update disavow links file in Google console then it usually takes time.
I updated disavow file 04.11.2021 and 10.01.2022 traffic recovered.

How do you know the articles are 'well made'?
High dwell time?
Low bounce rate?
Optimized around your competitors?

The problem here is: People give you tons of advice, but actually, no one has a clue wtf is going on. Nobody knows why Google's algorithm suddenly messed with your website. As you wrote by yourself: No manual penalty. No issues.
The same situation / algo penalty happened to a couple of my sites as well. I tried everything. Disavowing links, changing the structure, onsite and offsite optimization, audits, changed the hosting, etc. - nope, nothing had an impact.
And then you have all these wannabe SEOs and Google employees like Muller who just blame the webmaster "Oh something must be wrong with your site. Try to focus on high quality content, so we can steal it...hehe"...well, how about something is wrong with the algorithm?
