Unique cold email marketing approach

No doubt a late reply, but I am more than curious. Let's say that the person replies and sends you back a number. You then send them a piece of information that helps them solve their problem. What do you do after that? Do you send a follow-up email? I guess I am just thinking that if you already send them a way to fix their problem (after they send you a number), they have their solution so they are not really encouraged to buy something from you. How do you fix this?
 
In this case, all it takes for the client is to type in a number. May work well depending on type of businesses

I delete these messages when they land in my inbox. However, I'm immersed in the industry and know all the tricks.
