UK banks SUSPENDED!!!!!!!!!!!!

i just was selling btc on localbitcoins for UK bank transfer , after receiving 2000GBP like from 5 people my barclays account was blocked with no explains at all , also monzo bank was suspended for two small transfers received ,

wtf is wrong with these uk banks? :mad:

Do your research and make the change to a less known one.

Banks as big as Barclays see BTC as a threat to mainstream currencies. Smaller banks don't care.
 
2000 in total , but stupid thing is that they don't even explain why , just kick you out like a terrorist
 
Banks are super cautious these days with all the heavy money laundering laws. I was even called by my bank recently for a 1k transfer...

They are just creating an enviroment for their bosses....how else they gonna cut more money lol.
 
At least they returned the money back to the source. Unless you were dealing with scammers, explain the situation to your buyers and you can still get your money. Make sure to set up a more secure account by explaining to the bank why you are about to get a lot of small deposits before you actually get the transfers this time though.
 
The UK banks do not allow BTC transfers i guess from 2017 or early 2018. Where have you been?

All the traders who are left on LBC from UK ask some ridiculous notes with the deals to avoid the ban :p
 
Why don't you use transferwise borderless to receive the money or revolut or one of the other digital banks...

I'm surprised about barclays tbh. They are generally quite flexible, have you "warmed" your account?

I don't think Barclays gives a fuck for 2K, I suggest you open a "investor" type of Barclays of account (just have a look at their accounts the support investors/traders), so you are in the safe side.

Transferwise will have problem as well. As there is a digital footprint that is traceable to your transactions done with banks. Had some issue with my stealth account with transferwise of late too because of trading crypto.
 
Im in the Uk and had no problems at all with Barclays. Couple of fraud check text messages along the way but nothing more serious. This is more to do with where the money came from rather than what it was for. One of those 5 people is flagged for whatever reason £2000 isnt really that large when compared to what some people have cashed out.

What do they say to you when you phone them up?

We had a bank send us a letter that was worded similar more than once... it was because of too many transactions with third world countries via wire I am sure.

Banks do what banks do.

The only problem I had with Barclays is their stupid ATM's not accepting my somewhat "bend" money, but they are quite flexible and as far as I know, #1 place for UK newcomers to get an account on.
 
So you take the decision to sell everything ? i just wonder how much money you made from mining and sell
 
Same as tb303, been using my UK Barclays account to buy and sell BTC via LBC without any issues. It seems as already stated, one of those transactions was with an account that was flagged as high risk for whatever reason. So maybe you just got unlucky.

One thing though is i tend to deal only with trusted members i have previously done transfers with and based on your experience will stick to them only now 100%
 
You'd be surprised how easy it is to trip flags in banking systems. It depends on a number of factors, including your average monthly holdings, average daily transfers, amount of each transfer, etc. Then suddenly you get 5 transactions for $2k each?

This is what banks do. They control your money, and thus, they control you. They also take your money and make more money with it. Nice deal for the consumer huh?
