Two Random Charges From GoDaddy

So I get two $20 charges from GoDaddy. I call them about it, they had no clue why the charges were made. After looking into it, they claim that I was charged for false whois information on a domain of mine. I have 44 domains in my account, how does one have false information?

They offered no explanation for these charges before I called them, no reasoning on the paypal receipt. They claimed they emailed me and yet, neither of my email accounts they emailed received said email. I have no issues receiving any of GoDaddy's other promotional emails about their "newest offers" and expiring domains, but two $20 charges I didn't authorize seem to slip by somehow?

They told me to email [email protected]. Is this something I should do or cut my losses on that $40 instead? The domain Godaddy support said it is associated with is something I suppose could have a complaint of some sort filed against it and when googling "domainsbyproxy $20" I read complaints about this being the reason. If that is the case, should I not email them?

What you should do is transfer the hell out.

Pretty much what I told support when they tried to sell me stuff after "helping" me with my problem.

No, don't antagonize them by being rude and stuff while they still manage your domains. They could simply accuse you of some imaginary tos breaking and hit you with that other fee, $200 or something to give you the domain back.

I received some random charges from them a few months back that came out of nowhere. One was for $30 I think, and 2 more were for $20. I found out it was because I had domains with "trademarked" terms in them and they charged me because they received a complaint from the owners of the trademark.

This is obviously bullshit because why should GoDaddy charge me a fee when the issue is between me and the company who's name I was using in this case. Also, why would all the charges be different amounts? Doesn't make sense...

No other registrars do this except for GoDaddy.

I ended up getting all my money back by calling my CC company and doing a chargeback. They got my money back right away. I then put a block on all future charges from GoDaddy and transferred away all of my domains except for the ones I planned on letting expire anyways.

If you haven't done so yet, definitely do a chargeback with your CC company because chances are GoDaddy isn't going to refund you voluntarily. After that, put a block on it so they cannot charge you anymore. Then transfer all your domains to a new registrar. I like internet.bs a lot, but Namecheap is good too. Both of them offer free whois protection whereas with GayDaddy you have to pay for it.

I will never use GayDaddy for anything ever again after that happened.

i had similar problems when my website tonight package mysteriously turned itself on half way through the year and i had made about 4 months of payments before i noticed . i never got a penny back

Do a chargeback with your CC company. You will get it back assuming this didn't happen a real long time ago.
