Dude if your using automated software and your Twitter account is nothing to brag about,why even use automated software.....Why not do it manually.......People will follow a site that is following 0 people and has 50 followers because they think there twitter will get seen....People like to see somebody not following somebody with a follower base.

It's easy dude, just don't use the api and make your following and un-following look natural. Think trickle, not waterfall..

because that's time consuming and unless it's converting directly, that's not cost effective for me (and I'm guessing not for a lot of people)

obviously you don't have to say what you are doing if you don't want to, I'm just curious what makes such a low volume worthwhile? I can't imagine how < 100 followers makes you enough $ to justify the time spent ?

I think his idea of following and unfollowing is just a poor implementation of the method posted by ernesthemingway last year.

The point of doing it in ernesthemingway's method is to choose people from the top 100 list of people with over 40k friends. Then follow them and you'll be on the top of their list for other followers to find you, then after about 5 minutes you've scrolled into oblivion so you unfollow them. But then you follow them again to start it over. Then repeat every 5 or 10 minutes, follow and unfollow over and over. Because there are so many followers and this keeps you on the top of the list of new followers, this is supposed to get you a lot of followers really fast.
If you do it like the OP suggests, you will follow someone and then unfollow an hour later. The time span is too long for ernesthemingway's method, and then he isn't repeating over and over.
The OP claims have about 82 followers after 2 days.
ernesthemingway claimed to get 200-300 followers after a few hours.
I don't know if ernesthemingway's method still works, but it seems really likely that it's the source of the theory that unfollowing is a good idea. The method was probably watered down from post to post until it MOPAR68 learned it as follow for an hour then unfollow and move on.

A better strategy is following 100, waiting 48 hours, then unfollowing whoever isn't following you back. With this strategy you can pick up anywhere from 20-50 followers a day across thousands accounts, a far cry from the 83 followers the OP was able to gain with his tactics.

Yeah, I agree, There is no point unfollowing after 1 hour, because u atleast need to give time to the user u followed so that he/she follows u back.
If u both live in different time zones (which is a more probable thing), then u need to give 1 - 2 days and, then u can remove those people who did not follow u back, but these days, twitter is keeping a close watch on people who r doing it, so dont do it more than twice or thrice a month or your a/c could be banned from twitter
