Yes, it's like a normal store, but with an unlimited trial that ends after your first 50 orders.

But I just now figured out that you can't connect a domain to the shop unless you choose Shopify Plan which is paid. Do you have the same information? Read it on the official Shopify forum.

You can put your payment details and you wont be charged until you've sold 50 products.

You may want to double check on that. From what I know, the 50 orders are test orders, not real orders. Also, once the credit card is set-up, the paid plan goes into effect.

You will be charged for the monthly Basic Shopify plan of $29.00 USD right now. This will cover your Shopify subscription from: April 15, 2017 to May 15, 2017.

I had parners account for long time, maybe something has changed, but this is what I see when trying to pick plan.

The difference between developer account and paid account is that with dev. account you can only have 50 orders. After that you have to switch to a paid plan. Further, you cannot use a custom domain with a dev store, that means no www.supershop.com but supershop.myshopify.com. I did not try if you maybe can use a redirect on an existing domain ....
But the bigger problem is that you cannot use paid apps with dev stores ... and almost all apps for shopify are paid, there aren't that much free apps for shopify ...
