Sorry if this seems too simple but I keep receiving alerts for replies people make on threads I posted in and the replies aren't even mentioning me. It's probably right in front of my face but I can't see where I can control how I'm alerted? Thanks
Go to your preferences and deselect "Automatically watch threads that you create or when you reply...".

Thank you so much! For the past week, I've been wondering if there was an option to not "watch" a thread by default just because I posted a comment.
@mangoodi's thread just reminded me that you could also deselect the "replies to a watched thread" option in your Alert Preferences settings. https://www.blackhatworld.com/account/alert-preferences Both settings should accomplish the same things; the system alerts you because you're watching the thread, that is unless you stop checking the thread and it goes on to a new page. Although deselecting the "replies to a watched thread" will allow you to still receive alerts if someone attaches a file in that thread.
