Tumblr or wordpress

For a personal/legit blog, tumblr is a lot better for building an audience and readership but if you want to sell anything or impress people, wordpress looks a lot more professional and you can do a lot more with it (wordpress.org, not .com)

Pardon my ignorance, is the .com a copycat or illegitimate?

As many others have said, it really does depend on what you're using it for. From what I've seen and gathered, Wordpress is seen as more "professional" and, in regards of making a legitimate blog, that's what it seems like. Tumblr is more light-hearted and not currently taken as seriously when it comes to the money-making blog world (unless you have a lot, lot, lot of followers and are interested in selling a book/crafts/art you personally make). So, I'd have to agree with the consensus: Wordpress.

Wordpress is more professionally-oriented and more SEO friendly, so that's my choice.

Wordpress has a large amount of plugins which give you more creative freedom.

Wordpress for me too. professional with lots of plugins. i ve never had a prob with it

Depends on what you want to do. For me I would use wordpress for SEO and tumbler too but not so much.

I like to run WordPress blog and posting uptades on Tumblr (like on Twitter etc). Works great for me

Wordpress hands down! Wordpress has so many themes and community support. It's pretty solid except for a few security issues

Bro,it depends on what you want to build. If you have better knowledge on Wordpress then you can choose it,because you can do a lot more with it

It depends really. If you're writing articles I'd say Wordpress. But if you're into photography, tumblr is great for spreading photos.
