Trouble Ranking Easy Keyword

So i have this super easy keyword (<5000) total results and an expired domain that I registered a couple of weeks ago. My post indexed at position #10 for the keyword, and it's been around a week now and it did a little dancing, peaking at #8 after making a couple web 2.0s and even a pbn post, but then went back to #10. today i made 3 web 2.0s (expired web 2.0s) and linked to the post with 3 different anchor text and indexed them by submitting the url to google and now the post is still at #10, was at #13 for a couple of minutes...one of the tumblrs that are linking to it is at #20 with only 100 words of content, how is my post ranking so badly?

I know time is an important factor of ranking but this keyword is extremely low competition and the page now as around 5 expired web 2.0s and a pbn post linked to it and it's at the bottom of the first page still. This is the same situation as other posts on the website that I am trying to rank, but this is the easiest keyword so I thought it would move up faster.

Not sure what you want us to say except the usual....keep building links slowly and use alot of raw url and be patient.
 
What is your keyword density on the page you're trying to rank? And what is your anchor ratio? How many times you use exact match anchor and naked urls in %? By the way, wait a couple of week before some serp movements, if you created web 2.0 today, they can't rank you on the same day.
 
Do it steadily and slowly now if you are still at position 10 then use naked URL with next backlinks you create.

Also do some social sharing of your backlinks and build some high-quality blog comments at least PR 4 direct to your web 2.0s and other good quality backlinks.

I'm sure within a week your site jump up between 4 to 8.

Keyword density for the body text is 1.44%, but for all text on the page it's 2.60%. Could this be a problem?

I used exact match anchor twice out of ~6 backlinks, so ~33%. I used naked URL once, so 17%, and the rest were partial match (~50%). I guess I need to use generic "click here" as well.
 
Your doing too fast, keep calm and build bit slowly.
Everything will work then and dancing of SERP is normal.

Yes, this percent is too high even for 2/3-word keyword. I would recommend you to look at this On-Page Seo Guide from phpbuilt.
 
You need to also do a comparative study of the top sites. It might seem easy because there is only 5000 results, but what is the first site doing that you are not? Is your onsite seo good? Your obviously doing something right but you need to do more right than the sights above you in order to move up. One or two links might not be enough.

The #2 result is a forum thread, and there are 2 other forum threads in the top 10. I actually just realized that #1 doesn't even have the exact keyword in their title, description, URL, or even on the page. It's an authority site though and that page does have ~30 backlinks. So I would be happy to be at position #2
 
Forum threads can be quite powerful depending on the site. A forum thread from BHW for instance can be listed almost instantly and high straight away. There is a lot of power in these as parasites.
 
Even easy keywords take time to rank. Google doesn't differentiate between high and low competition keywords in terms of how they evaluate and rank the sites. As others have mentioned, if you are on Page 1 then you are already doing something right. Just keep doing it for some more time and you should see it go up the rank.
 
easy or not, each link building campaign needs time. just wait and build more relevant links. results will come
 
Ranking has become a patient-mans game, which makes me exceedingly happy, because the quick-buck-seekers crash and burn while those of us who take the time to make it work, win in the long term.

I plan for a 6-9 month initial period on just about any project, and if it ranks before then, that's great, but not expected.
