Travel niche: need ideas?

I personally think you have a bad plan right from the start.

If you do not have time and/or money to travel, it makes no sense writing about places you've never been to, in a language with bad RPM (which is the case for any East Europe language). Such a project is bound to fail from the beginning...

Try to turn it around: Remember, people with money travel to ALL countries nowadays, including each country in Eastern Europe.

Make a blog in English, but about your own country--capital, sea (if you have), mountains, other tourist cities, local dishes, hoking trails, expenses for traveling in your country, cycling in the country, and so on, and so forth.

With such a blog you'll actually provide some value, and have some real expertise (because you know your own country, and if you don't you can travel around easily with little budget), and at the same time when you get some traffic you'll earn decent RPM since the blog will be in English.

Think about it for a while, this makes sense whereas your original plan doesn't

Determine what is your purpose of bringing the travel niche.. Is that to showcase your travel experiences or make money via affiliates? kindly fix target on what you need to do.

Couple of years back, I managed a few domains on travel niche just to explain the experience of travel mainly the road trips and how to explore more adventures through that. Initially, it was time-consuming part once the process goes on after a few months, it will redefine the purpose of affiliating things properly on what flights to choose on which city, what rooms to book on a certain city both in cost effective and in meeting the criteria, and exploring what's the sightseeing in the town or that city, especially foods, partys and other adventure activities.

You can even try 15 days of road trips in Norway/Sweden or driving 10000kms covering Europe in 30 days like this many options can help. Later to that, you can slowly inject the keywords, KD, organic visibility to the blogs, etc.,

You can have different buckets you can write about. Start out with your existing content. Bucket them category wise like luxury, camping, backpacking, trekk etc
You can talk about how to make travelling budget friendly, hacks/ tips on how to book pocket friendly accomodation
Write about things to do at specific destinations.
Try to subcategorise as much as you can, travel can also be alot about how to discover places, maybe you can get into the historical aspect and make each destination an interesting story on why to visit. Hope this helps!

I totally agree with your opinion, I’m actually from Romania, do you think there is an audience looking for best places in Romania, best restaurants in x,y,z city and so on, am I getting your advice correctly?
It would be a pleasure writing about everything, and I can make categories like - night life, food, tourist attractions and so on.
I didn’t visited all my country yet but I think is a good start to write 10-20 articles from a few cities and then maybe outsource some articles.

I never thought that there is even a audience for people looking for things to do in Romania or travel, but as I did some research there are a few.

About monetising it, I’m thinking of adsense + paying promotion from hotels, restaurants in the future.

What other suggestions do you have? I’m going for this one 100% I will send you my website as I’m fully planning it now and waiting for more opinions, especially from you.

Thank you for your kind words . I try to be a bit more active outside of the "IM journeys" section, and decided to reply, especially since I remembered you from my thread.

Romania is a great country, with relatively high mountains, sea, interesting countryside. Safe to visit too, 32 on global peace index rating, which is actually much higher than many popular tourist destinations (for comparison Italy is no. 32, France no. 65, and US no. 132!).
It is quite cheap to travel around too...

You can bet many people are interested, and many more could be, if there was a quality website with English content about travel destinations in the country. Perhaps it could be your website?

Simona Halep is getting divorced too, which will be +1 reason for me to visit , but of course I have to be realistic with my chances .

Jokes aside, I see potential in such a project. Monetization options are endless once you have a traffic in travel niche, we can discuss that later on. If you want, feel free to send me the ideas for content plan & anything else (or you can share it here too), and I'll be glad to share my opinion.

Travel related videos can give lot of good returns. You can hire someone to shoot them.

Target T1 so that you can have better earnings.

The first thing to do is to make vlogs and earn money to travel. You need to start from somewhere.

Writing about what you do won't give you good traffic unless you are targeting some good volume keywords.

Youtube, on the other hand, can give you views irrespective of what you show to your audience.

Check Sourav Joshi Vlogs. He is killing Youtube with his daily life videos but not everybody gets this much fame.

I would focus on travel discounts. You can definitely throw in affiliate links and make good money in that space.

location to travel; travels also includes hotels, restuarants, sports activities on the city that you writing up!

Scrape a list of websites in travel niche, and scan through their articles to get some ideas for sub niches.

If you do not have enough money and still want to start a blog then not start a blog that displays the compilation of travel journeys from other travel bloggers? You can embed their travel videos and use their images with their permission.

Travelling I enjoy Niche tourism products include outdoor pursuits, nature-based tourism, cultural tours, screen tourism, and many other travel experiences.

Where do you live? Except if you live in the middle of the desert... You can just travel around your place (bike, car, bus, etc.) in a range of about 40-50 kilometers. Then you can highlight the amazing local places and you start promoting cool places you probably never heard of.
You will meet amazing people in such project.

You can write about basically ANYTHING around you. There is a high chance there was something done there 5 or 500 years ago.
A particular massive stone? Giant tree? An abandoned ship or house... Even in the most lost places, you will find something interesting to write about.

There are two options: whether you live in a lost place which means you will have 0 concurrent
OR
you live in a nice place with a lot of population and cities which means you will have plenty of things to speak about.
