Translating Content? Good or a bad strategy?

I can't write long articles as i don't have much time. Also can't buy them as there is need of a lot of content. What i am doing is, i am searching for content in Russian, Spanish, French & Japanese and then converting it with google translator (other translators suck) after that i put it in a Spinner then i try to take out its grammatical mistakes with a grammar & spell checker tool. I checked the uniqueness of a content with an online site and it tells me the content is 100% unique. But i was wondering whether google will catch me or not? What's the best way to find it out ? or you guys have any experience regarding it? My content is really not for readers, it is just for google. As the majority of visitors will not be interested in the content but the download links. So am i doing wrong? Do i need to add some more steps in translating ?
Also suggest me some more free tools for alternativeness

If you can use google translator, do you think google spiders won't use that to evaluate your site? You can use these type articles on tire 2 or 3 links, not on your money site. IMO if you can make 10 articles in an hour and put those garbage on your site. Its good to write one good content for an hour and feed your site.
 
True, but even using spinners and grammar checker tools won't add a twist in it? ok i won't try it with my money site, will go for dummy sites first. But if anyone has some good suggestions to make my content more better then share it :)

I would say you should just write the content yourself. Or hire a team to do it for you if you can. I know you said you need a lot of content but if you get a team, this should be able to help you.

I'll remain "neutral" in my advice as you might see it biased since content writing is one of the services we operate but let me remain neutral.

I have heard it so many times that what you're doing now (translating foreign content into English) is being done by some SEOrs. A few say it works for them. Some say that's an epic fail. Well, my take is this: "do what you got to do and whichever WORKS for you." I'm glad I read something on your other responses that you'll "test" it on your dummy sites. That's good. Test. Test. Test. That's the only way you can quantify if this technique really works or not, especially on your niche.

Nonetheless, I have to agree with our other fellows who recommended you to just buy unique articles or buy SEO articles if you're looking for long-term and "safe" method of publishing content to your site, regardless if it's your Tier 1, 2 or 3 site. IMO, whether it's a machine (search engine) or a human (your readers), everyone needs quality.

There are three tools we use whenever we proofread:
1. bare eyes - the most powerful proofreading tool ever!
2. MS Word's in-built grammar and spelling checker
3. Ginger It

Thanks for answering my thread & your tools suggestions. I am still working on this translation method. So far i don't see some good results but i'll try with some more niches. May be i had more competition on the previous niche and perhaps the website with quality content won the race in taking visitors away from me. So still going.... :)

I'm testing this also, Just started last week. I'm translating article, then using this as a template for a re-write, spending about 15 mins on it, making sure it reads decent English. I'll see how it goes.
 
Even if you translate them with Google translator, spin and correct them with grammar and spell checker, Google and Copyscape will find out that they have been copied. Even a human person can tell that X's article has been stolen by Y by just translating and spinning, say that he knows how to speak English even if he's a Russian, Japanese, Spanish or French. How about hiring a team of translators just like Tangee suggested? Get these guys to translate them for you manually, re-write and have them grammar-checked.

Yeah a human can tell you immediately whether the content was copied or not as they merely focus on ideas & thoughts. Machines/bots/search engines are a bit different, aren't they? well, may be they can trace my content but nothing's wrong in trying :D

Just because an idea is terrible that doesn't mean i shouldn't try it. Google's a bit unpredictable with its algorithm, so testing on dummy sites won't hurt me. :)
 
I have tried translating articles without seeing too much love from Google, though the traffic seems better than with spinned aticles (English-English).
 
Same here. Just tried it and found out that google even loves those pure copied contents than of those spinned ones. So i guess i won't go for either of these lazy tactics.
So, NO to translating Content

If you are trying to game Google's algorithm I wouldn't use a tool created by Google to do so.
 
As you know 1 good backlink is better then 10000 bad backlinks this rule apply for your articles.
 
If you translate it yourself and change the order of the words, good idea. Else: bad idea.
 
actually its okay.. I do this the way around as I translate English articles to other langs and double check them for grammar and such.. then I make sure they look neat as well.. submit! :) ... I read somewhere that google don't mind translating articles as long as they are human proof read..
 
Don't use Google Translate service,please,they'll catch you!Better to translate yourself,or even to outsource it.

Might s well use spinner than translator. OR you may also spin first an english content then translate to foreign languages (3x) and then translate back to english. You may then just edit the words after :)
