Translating Articles: Is It a Good Idea?

Go for it... Im doing that for years... Just don't translate articles from websites which are published on many languages... for example goal.com etc... My suggestion is to find blogs that don't rank well (on 3rd, 4th page on google) in your niche and translate them, because most of those blogs are abandoned...

I'd recommend summarising the paragraphs/sentences to make it look like a "different article" or if you dont want to spend alot of time on it, just change the tittle, but you can still get caught. As someone said, be careful from who you copy.

I don't know if they look for it but why would they add that code??
As you can see in the example the second one that i first passed by notepad didn't had any code attached to it, better to be safe!

last week I put a translated article 1000+ words on one of my testing sites. It reads totally garbage and makes no sense at all. But the site has some good backlinks so I was ranking #22 instantly for a mildly competitive keyword.

Then I wrote a 1000+ article myself with the same keyword. It is unique, well written and has useful info. I even put 2 good pictures + a relevent video in it. Then I posted it on another testing site which has less backlinks than the first testing site.

guess what. This "unique high quality post" ranks #126 for the same keyword. More than 100 spots behind the garbage article.

content is king?? haha so ridiculous. It is all about backlinks

I know a guy who won a SEO contest with translated SHIT content. And all these white hat guys behind him with "high quality content" moaning: oooh that is unfair. it should not happen. it is unethical...

I did not make these rules but you can take a shit on your keyboard and make it rank. It might not be a long term strategy though
 
I translate Dutch to English content all the time and i do very well with it, the changes that content owners are going to go after you are next to nothing.

You need to copy the content to a txt file first so you can clean out the HTML that is in the back, that is the same with all other sites, if you copy this topic into dreamweaver you will also transport the HTML/CSS with it, cleanse it with a text file and you'll be fine
 
Technically,if you don't have the rights to re-publish it, then you could end up in trouble.Still its a good way to do the trick and save time and money.As everyone else said,use a txt editor to clean up the piece and mix it up with some PLR articles and correct the grammar to make it readable.I have done this with many plr articles and have ranked well in the past.

It really depends, if its a small time publisher from another country you don't have to worry about a civil suit.
 
You wont be penalized at all. You can even translate them with Google translate and if there are any correction you can manually do them! It saves time..

It would be good if you use them on your own blogs instead of submitting on other forums.
 
I recently found an article that was published on a local (in my country) website (it's a news portal) and it was totally translated from another website. I went and compared the two. Can the website that originally published the article file a report to the local website?
 
What you'll notice is that sometimes Google knows the original publisher regardless of the translation. For example I've seen Plumber A in Miami write an article and then Plumber B in Detroit posts that article on the website, changes the content to contain Detroit and updates the title tag... but Google overwrites the title tag and displays Miami instead of Detroit.
 
You can translate between 3 languages to make it appear more unique, like if your doing French. You could do English to Russian and then Russian to French.
 
I've been translating some articles lately, and just tested bing for translating Russian to English, as well as Google Translate for it, and I've noticed that for the majority of the articles, Bing was better for Russian to English, but horrible at geographic and personal names, Google Translate was much superior at those parts.
 
Better to do only in English and give it to French writer or Russian writer or etc for rewriting.
