Yes its possible... I started an online casino review site on a brandnew domain with zero backlinks, and it hit an average of 3,000 monthly views.... I didn’t even focus on SEO at all. At its peak, it reached 22,000 visitors in a month. I sold the site to a guy in New Zealand for a good amount, and it’s still online today generating revenue...

most traffic these days is from social media no? seo is just for high quality individuals and companies that dont wanna deal with the noise and bullcrap

It might have worked in past but now it is very hard to achieve.
 
Yes, use networks that send traffic for a few bucks, and send those visits everyday to your site consistently. You can also use microworkers for this but be sure to give them exact instructions (like only visiting from chrome browser).
Works best for low comp kws obviously, and even better if your site is already on page 2-3.
