Traffic suddenly down

Hey there, I have 2 autoblogs hosted on gator.
One was with 2000+ visitors from google, one was with 500++.

2 weeks ago traffic for the one with 500 visitors dropped to under 100, and now I see that the big one is having 200 visitors daily.

I checked and I'm not banned by google, PR is the same, and for the one with 2000 visitors I still rank on first page, but I don't get traffic anymore from that keyword (I'm on #1)

Can anyone please help me?

summer makes traffic slow down but not by that much . . . still thats about when it starts to drop so it must have had some affect on you're traffic drop.

There might be less people searching for that keyword.

Trends are constantly changing and Google commonly shows different search result to different people based on various algorithms.

Wow - that is a big drop. I don't think a particular keyword will lose so much steam so quickly....give it a couple of days - maybe you were off the results for a while due to a dance or something and just came back when you checked it #1 again.

If it is not that, maybe your analytics broke down and is giving you wrong data. Either way, I hope you get back. Do post an update on what happened.

To answer everyone:

I get 90% of traffic from google from a lot of long tails. For example from 2000 visitors I get around 1700-1800 from google from around 300-400 long tails + 20% from main keyword.

I checked and I'm still on #1 for main keyword.
I hope it will get back.

I will update if I have any news...

July!

The first 2 weeks of July are the reason your traffic is down.

July 4th, Vacations, etc. ...

It will come back

My traffic is about 80% down! massive traffic on a normal day... total crap today. Last 2 days are basicly paying for their hosting.

My audience is very likely distracted by World Cup, and the crasily hot weekend in Europe.

keep working on promoting more long tails, you can never have too many keywords up the top!

you should take a look at your long tail keywords, there might be some of them dropped from google's first page

But is the main keyword where you get the most traffic from?

I have seen many SEO guys say that it's the accumulated long tail keywords that bring in the most traffic. Maybe you have slipped in your rankings for those phrases, and need to do some more for them.

It's not July or your site man. It's Google! People like to blame even the weather when traffic is down. Keep up to date with what Google is doing. They have been doing some nasty shit in the last few months.

Exactly. The changes in June killed a bunch of my sites. My overall traffic on multiple sites is down 50% since the Big G's changes.

I get so sick of their god complex over there.
