I would like to know the your take on traffic generation for blogs?
How difficult or easy it is to generate traffic for a blog which produces unique and daily updated content? Also, what techniques one can implement in order to have a better audience reach?

It is very possible to generate good daily traffic with unique content, however you need to find the right keywords for each of your posts. Use tools like Google Webmaster Tool to find Keywords and don't forget to include proper html tags in your posts too.

Thanks for the suggestions. Infact, I had already tried these suggestions before but with minimal result. That is the reason of me asking this question so as to know if I am missing out on something.

You still might need to do some good linking to your blog to see any real results. Make sure your articles are unique and not at all
keyword stuffing.

I do feel that it is quite possible. I think that once you get traffic going there and they see that you have updated the blog on a daily basis you will be getting more and more traffic. I do agree that you do need to link them as well so you can get the good traffic there.

Is hiring an SEO guy for link building is good or should I be doing it myself only?

free traffict, you can use social media to share your blog, seo is better but bot easy
if you have money, you can use paid traffic like adword, fb ads etc

Reddit is really good for blog traffic, if you get your site on reddit and people pick it up you can get 1000's of hits in hours!

if you really have unique and useful info but still don't seem to get good traffic from google,it could be that your website is sandboxed by google..so continue shelling out the great content until that magical day when your blog gets a good pagerank ans starts getting a lot of traffic...best of luck :)

I know reddit traffic is huge and I am actively promoting it over there. But somehow, the traffic from reddit is not converting well for my blog.

Sandboxed by google? Can you explain the meaning of this?

Bring your blog to the work of social media. It is the most effective way of increasing the reader base for your blog.

social media is low quality convertion, but is free..
for best convertion you can use ppc or demograpy ads like fb

Look beyond unique and daily updated content. With so many blogs in all niches available today, it's not enough. If you want to bring truly targeted traffic, your content should be helpful and engaging, and achieving that is easier said than done.

Still, if you believe your content is good enough, lets turn to the promotion aspect. Social media helps a lot if you have a strategy and people are willing to share your content.; Tools like buzz bundle http://www.link-assistant.com/buzzbundle/download.html are of great help here because they help you find your people and talks where you can pitch your content.

Also, if you're interested in getting some paid traffic, have a look at ad networks like 7search http://7search.com/, infolinks http://www.infolinks.com/ or adlandmark http://www.adlandmark.com/. With these networks, you'll get cheap and abundant traffic, however, it might be poorly-targeted.

Write quality post. Which needs to be both SEO and User friendly. Then go for social sharing, content marketing and some high quality link building.

Unique content is great but you have to research your keywords to really get traffic going in. You can also use social networks.
