Topical authority no longer works... most people here still live in fantasy world... Latest google update destroyed a lot of "topical authority" websites in favour of poor reddit, quora discussions etc...
Don't waste your time on it.

You have no clue what topical authority is so you should stop talking about it.
And actually Reddit and others are going over serious clean up.

Thousands of URLs being de-indexed or content removed internally but I guess that's nothing.
And article you linked is further testament to that.
You can't be serious.
If you think that's what I do you really don't pay much attention.

Yes, I am not denying that. They have been rising constantly for some time now and have been favored obviously.
However, pages and content being lost is still true as well.
You don't necessarily need more pages to have traffic increase. You can even remove them and have rise, if positions of existing pages increase.
Check the Ahrefs graph of ranked pages below. (it doesn't look like much because they have massive numbers but it's actually 500k pages gone)
First "cleanup" started to happen shortly before March Core update. Then there was a recoup and it is happening again.
