Top 3 books to read

Think and Grow Rich - Napoleon Hill
Zero to One: Peter Thiel
Tuesdays with Morrie: Mitch Albom

How to Win Friends and Influence People - Dale Carnegie
Ca$hvertising - Drew Eric Whitman
Meditations - Marcus Aurelius (for self-discipline to even apply the things I've learned in the other two books haha)

MJ Demarco - Millionaire fastlane

MJ Demarco - Unscripted

Greg McKeown - Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less

The suggestions below are mindset-focused books, reason being that this is what matters regardless of the area you focus. But they're not your average rah-rah-feel-good crap.

"Whale Hunt In The Desert", by Deke Castleman
"Winning Through Intimidation", by Robert Ringer, especially the first edition if you can find it - it's rougher and uncut.
"Sex, Money, Kiss", by Gene Simmons

And as a general advice on reading theories about life: You read them to synthesize what fits best with your character. What works for John doesn't necessarily work for Tom. Never read books as if they were holy. Instead, nurture your reason and test.

No straight marketing books, but here are my recommendations:

Homers’ The Illiad
A story about hubris and humanity.

Sometimes the Gods (read: circumstances or ego) will try and lead you from your path. Being aware of this fact will make sure that any rivalry or petty grievances don’t blind or distract you.

Von Clausewitz’s War
Teaches you about the essence of strategy and why you need one.

Von Clausewitz points out the simple fact the everyone is confronted with limited resources, and therefore needs a strategy in order to concentrate these limited resources to achieve a competitive advantage.

Both descriptions are overly simplified and reductionistic and there’s a lot more to them, but in essence it boils down to these.

This was required reading in middle school (in ancient and new Greek, side by side) back in the day. At that age, the only thing I liked was the battles and the intrigue :D

It's always been on my huuuuuuge "someday, maybe" list, I'll give it another pass some time, thanks for reminding me.

I read that when I was in the army (conscription), slaving away at the border region (we were on the one side of the river and the enemy on the other). Somebody had left this book in the drawer of the desk where the soldier monitoring the building entry and the guns at night was stationed (i.e. me, every other night). Fantastic book, highly recommended.

Rich Dad Poor Dad - Robert Kiyosaki
The Power of Habit - Charles Duhigg
The 10 Pillars of Wealth - Alex Becker

Richest Man in Babylon

Thinking, fast and slow, Daniel Kahneman - This is the best book I have ever read that relates to practical application of skills. Although its not specifically related to business or internet marketing, its about the psychology of the mind and what influences the way we think about things. I think about this book all of the time in my day to day business life and its been a big influence for me.

Straight line persuation, jordan belfort - Not a book, but a course that you can probably find online somewhere. This is another very influential piece of material that I think about, and use, all the time in my day to day business life. As well as personal life. This really made me think about how to influence people and although its about sales, it can be applied to absolutely everything because it teaches you how to communicate, how to get people to do what you want and also it helps when dealing with other people that are trying to sell things to you - whether it be products or ideas or anything else.

How to win friends and influence people, Dale Carnegie - Another amazing book. This also comes to mind often and its a great book for learning about what makes people tick and how you can work people around to your way of thinking. Once again this could be related to selling someone something, or just getting people to do what you want.
