Today is the big algorithm update?

Buy a new domain and try 301 for a week.. till you get your rankings back and then get rid of the 301.

A lot of penguin update related threads... good thing I mostly rely on PPC.

really? and do you have a try?

I can't help but shake my head at the bad advice given on here. This was the same advice given to me a year ago when I was hit by Penguin on some sites and the same advice given when I received unnatural link warnings back in the build my rank days.

Everyone told me to ditch my sites, give up, throw in the towel and start new sites. Thank goodness I didn't listen to that advice as it's proven to be wrong time and time again.

I've managed to recover all of my sites rankings except for one, and that one I only submitted disavows for.

The truth is you can recover your rankings from a Penguin update. No, it won't be an instant recovery but if you had any rankings that were worthwhile and your site was making money I highly recommend it. What I did was clean up my sites and built new ones at the same time.

Now for many of the niches I've got two well ranking sites. It's up to you how you move forward but know that Penguin is recoverable as long as you clean up links and wait for the next refresh.

I don't really follow rankings.. they're always changing for me, and end up giving me a panic attack when I do. But I do follow traffic, and have noticed a slight increase in both my sites the past couple of days.

Also mind you.. there was a time when I thought for sure my site was hit on the last update.. when from like 600/uniques a day to 100 or so... and it was like that for like two weeks. But I didn't panic, kept updating my site like I normally do.. and it went back up to normal (averages around 400-600/day now, depending on the day/weekends/holidays etc..)

I think Google likes to "test" sites sometimes. There's been a couple of times where I thought I was SOL, but didn't panic and kept going like I normally do, and everything would always go back to normal.

Last time it took 1 year for Penguin update. I guess if the site is worth waiting 1 year for recovery.

So the method is rank the original site or the new site? Get rid of 301 from old site to new site and then deindex new site? I assume only 1 site can exist and the other has to be deindexed to avoid duplicate content./website issues.

Sounds like a very interesting method and was hoping you could explain a bit more as I have been contemplating trying a 301 for a penalized site.

Thanks
