I will share some tips to help your YouTube channel.
These are based on my own experience, through trial and error.
If I am doing something with my channel, it is because it works. I do not waste my time using methods that do not produce results.

If I am doing something with my channel, it is because it works. I do not waste my time using methods that do not produce results.
- Name your video file with your video title before uploading it to YouTube. For example, your camera will call the file 123456.mp4 etc. Rename the video file name to your title; "How To Grow A YouTube Channel In 2021" etc. This will help the algorithm rank your content when uploading it. It cannot read what is inside the video file, so uses the file name (your video title) to identify what kind of content it is, and rank that content in the search results. The correct video file name, matching your video title; will make your content rank higher than a random .mp4 type video file name.
- Use 3 hashtag keywords in your video description. Do not load your description with multiple keywords. The algorithm will nullify 15+ keywords so none of them are used; it will be the same as if you didn't use any at all. 3 is the sweet spot for the algorithm to identify similar content, and suggest your content to viewers of similar content.
- 10+ minute videos work better for gains than shorts. Reason being longer content is more ad suitable. YouTube can place more ads in a 10+ minute video than a 60 second one. Therefore the algorithm weights longer content higher than shorter content. One 10 minute video will gain more results for your channel than 10 x 60 second shorts.
- Stick to a regular upload routine. Do not just upload on random days, at random times. Say you can only make one video per week, every week. Then always upload it Sundays only. Always publish it at exactly the same time 3.00pm etc. Sticking to a fixed day, and fixed time; will maximise your views from subscribers. The same content will gain less views if published on a random day, at a random time.
- Massive views, and massive interactions, will make your content rank higher; and therefore be suggested to more viewers; which will make it gain more views. When using panels, don't just buy views only. Buy likes as a well. 1000 views without likes won't work as well as 1000 views, plus 1000 likes. The algorithm weights views with interactions. The interaction can be; a video like, comment, comment like, or changing the video resolution from 1080 to 2160.
- Reply to every single comment on your videos. Do not just like, or heart the comments. Replied comments will encourage the viewer to come back again to your channel and view more content. Viewer retention is increased as a result, and content ranked higher, so suggested more, and more views gained.
- Comment positively on other channels with similar content. Do not spam their channel with links, this will get you blocked from commenting, and your comments will then be flagged by the algorithm on other channels as spam. Every comment needs to be unique, not copy and pasted; or it will be flagged as spam. Change the comment slightly each time; for example; "Excellent content, enjoyed it. keep up the good work on your channel". "Great video, enjoyed it, keep up the good work on your channel". The channel owner will think it is a genuine comment, so won't flag it as spam. The algorithm also sees it as unique, so won't flag the comment as spam. When viewers see your positive comment, and your username tells them your content is similar; they will click on the username in the comment and check out your channel viewing the content. The key to this is comment as soon as possible after they upload. This maximises the number of viewers that see your fanboy comment, and like it; which encourage more likes; so more clicks on your channel username, thus more views gained to your own content.
- Use large, clear, images in your thumbnails. Don't use too much text, too large text, and too many words. The video description identifies the content, not the thumbnail text. Facial reactions with an image work well. Loads of text does not work well. Try to make the image, face, text, a third of the thumbnail each. This is the sweet spot. Questions in the text of the thumbnail work better than statements. For example; "Best smartphone in 2021?" works better than "New 2021 smartphone from brand X" etc. The point is the text should always be a question for the viewer; this makes them click on your content to get that question answered.
- Invest in lighting, camera, and microphone. Poor lighting, poor images, poor sound; will kill your views fast. Get these 3 things high quality from day one and your; views, likes, comments, subscribers, will all grow faster. A camera tripod, LED light, lapel mic; are inexpensive from Amazon. Do not start making content until you have invested in these fundamentals.
- The typical viewer retention is under 2 minutes; regardless of content type. Do not kill off the first 30 seconds of views using an intro. Get stuck straight into the content from zero seconds, not after a 10-30 second intro etc. Viewer retention is the key to maximising views. An intro with music will kill that retention off.
- Target large channels that are making the same kind of content. Comment on every single one of their videos with a positive, unique (not copy and pasted) comment. Do not waste your time commenting on smaller channels. Always focus on the larger channels as they have your target viewers commenting on their content. By commenting on every video, it gets your own channel name exposed to the perfect target viewer. 10 comments is another 10 viewers, 100 comments is another 100 viewers, 1000 comments.... and so on.
- Create playlists for your content. Also use the "Community" page on your channel with links and thumbnail images of your upcoming videos. The interactions on your "Community" page are heavily weighted by the algorithm. Every comment, every reply, every like, is all weighted which helps your content move up the rankings, and be suggested to more viewers.
