In a few days, I while be traveling north of my country where it is sunny and near the beach.
The family thinks I will be going to '' relax'', but in reality, I just want to concentrate and have no distractions.
Just work super hard and come back stronger.

Has anyone else done this before? If so, what are some tips that you might share with me that will help me accomplish the most while being away from everyone?

Tips for Working While You
  • 1. Make sure you have a trusty internet connection.
  • Set focus blocks when you're in a different time zone.
  • Keep an open mind.
  • Find and bring along your 'anchors of stability'
  • Stick to your normal routine.
  • Set aside time to explore.
  • Set a hard cut-off time for the day.
  • Get the right gear.

I appreciate it, thanks. :D

I did the same thing recently and found it did wonders for my productivity. It's simple really - the fewer distractions there are, the more focused you can be. However, a new environment can prove to be very distracting, sometimes more than having familiar people around you. Therefore, I'd say the starting point should always be establishing a concrete plan. Plan your working hours and your time off, as well as the activities you want to fill it with.
Also, I did run into some internet connectivity issues at first, which was really frustrating. So, I'd agree that obtaining a stable connection should be one of the first steps.

Have to research how the internet connectivity is and how fast it is. I will be staying near some beaches north of my country but in a populated area.
I imagine the internet should be the same as here or maybe a little bit lower.

Planning my work hours will be crucial. Hopefully, I will be able to have a plan when I get there in two weeks.

From my side i feel like an offline employee, when i get out of my office i can't accomplish a damn task!
I need to change this, working while traveling should be fun.

For me, internet connection is the main issue and it's quite a hard thing to deal with while traveling...

Been there many times. Best is to decide on a schedule and stick to it. Temptation to go around and explore will be strong, but as long as you dedicate the necessary time consistently you will be fine. Also, make sure wherever you are staying has reliable Internet. Sometimes I'll book just a day or two to test, and if good I'll book the remaining time at the hotel.

I do it all the time, when the wife asks me what I'm doing I tell her that someone has to pay for this trip. I do make time though to enjoy myself and for the family, but work comes first, at least at this point in my life.

Just make sure you don't hear later something along the lines of "sorry honey, someone has to have fun on the trip" :D

I understand your situation. It is easy to become a workaholic. You indulge yourself in so much work that you forget about the happy things in life. I am sure that you will forget about all the work when you see your family happy. Family has great power to motivate a person.
