tips/advice on keyword research

I am currently working on an affiliate WordPress website. I was searching for keywords that I could easily rank on google. But in most of the case Amazon was already ranking on google and after that some 276k/month visitors tech niche websites and on 2nd page low-quality websites. Also, SEMrush didn't have any data on it. so, my question is that is it easy, hard or impossible for those keywords where Amazon is ranking on? And if it is hard, then how much authority/backlinks/domain age will be needed? I am already demotivated thinking I can't do it.

well if amazon is ranked 1, check the rank 2 or 3.

1,2,3 videos, then 4,5 amazon, 6,7,8 high authority websites and 9.10th low quality with zero backlinks and last ones are forum and videos. That's all in one first page.
Do you know any good forum or article on analyzing the content and strategy? I can't find good ones.

Here are a few things I try to check
1. Domain age: at least 1-2 domains should have below 2 years.
2. 1 or 2 low domain authoritative websites. (If ahref then RD bellow 20, If Moz then DA 30 and if majestic then TF bellow 20)
3. 1-2 domain should have below 100 pages indexed in google.
4. Also, I try to check the ugly design based website
Basically, if a new domain can rank, I believe anything a new website can also rank. Here backlink is the fact. You have to check the link profile before making any final decision.

than your best bet is 9 10. so far what i do is using tools to check the competitor backlink, do they use SM, they have PBN, publication, site age, rank history, than cross refrence it.
